then let Suarez do the deed

Really seems in hindsight there was a definite knock on effect to the Wilkins sacking. Imagine the atmosphere at the club with an owner like Abramovich: his whims hanging over them, inducing a needless mental fragility - explains their total capitulation to the mancs, who were themselves fragile around the Rooney business. Absolutely poisonous club, Torres has made a huge mistake and he looks (and plays) like he knows it.

I know, what the f***, he was so good an injury or two ago. Chelsea haven't a b****** between them, limp, spineless performance, they really looked old today. IMO Torres wont come into his own in that team until Drogba is gone; team isn't big enough for the two of them

Really seems like he's gone the way of most Italian players in the English league, doesn't fancy it, wants to play in Italy. Juve are just opening the bargaining process with their latest comments, just hope we can get decent wedge for him. Guess the argument will never be settled now.

I wish I had your faith Ted

Agree with that, Fulham have good form, generally good at home, no major injuries bar Duff - it'd be huge to get 3 points off em on Monday

Still not convinced by Adam. He has a lot of good qualities, mostly from dead ball situations, but is slow and just not good enough for us - Spurs about his max level. No point in spunking 10+ mill on him, we should go all out for McCarthy

Vintage Slur tactic, put the pressure straight onto the refs for the Chelsea game - worked too, they got Webb fixed

Up there with "If that'd gone in it would've been a goal"

this line to the tune of the Kinks David Watts surely

On Shelvey - I wonder if Kenny has a mind to recast him in the LB role as a kind of insurance policy against not securing any targets for that position?,,,his cameo vs Birmingham was pretty good (not a great test I know) ; he has pace, discipline, more experience than Wilson or Robinson. I'm assuming Aurelio is completely out of the picture for next season.

That's fair to say. It's the happy symptom of a team enjoying their game again; lately the same kind of thing applies to Agger, Maxi, Lucas

Totally agree, he's invaluable to the team despite his shortcomings. His touch is still not great, but my point is it's all about perception - if the team have an off day (thankfully rarer under Kenny) all the focus tends to alight on Dirks failings

it's the usual thing with Dirk - when we're playing well he looks great, when we're kak he looks particularly kak.

feel sorry for him but we dont really have room in the squad for Dirk Kuyt lite

Surely the club (Kenny and Comolli) will have a better idea about Pepes intentions than us, and be making provisional contingency plans...I'd hope they're looking at Lloris

Totally agree, it was painfully tantalising. My call was shockingly un-prescient

I thought Kewell would be our Giggs. Told everyone I knew Torres'd score Chavs to the title Desperately defended Morientes increasingly insipid performances Fell for the yanks initial lies

me too - so I will always remember him fondly. me too - so I will always remember him fondly.

Very sad, RIP

IMO it wasn't a pen, we'd be livid if one like that went against us. Between that decision and Carra getting away with it last week it's a form of "evening out" that should be acknowledged.

Agree with this - very hard to make a judgement so early and while he's not match fit. But the evidence is there to see, he was a total handfull for Sunderland, seems like he can hold it up better than Torres ever did and was very unlucky not to score.

Excellent result. Very slow to start but the defence had steel and resiliance and that transfers to the rest of the team - usually I'm s*** scared when we have a goal advantage, waiting for the inevitable nervy concession, but it was different today. Huge credit goes to Clark for that I guess. Spearing had a great game, if Kenny is getting behind him he'll gain confidence and be a big asset for steel and work in the middle. Meireles pretty quiet today, his forms beginning to trail off, hope the break rejuvinates him. Suarez is just f***ing amazing, pure belief, skill and neck, a world class signing. Onwards and upwards for the King. YNWA
