Agree with this. Hodgson's clearly not the future for us but he's here til the summer; get used to it, get behind the team, with any luck we'll continue to improve and finish top 6
-
Pepe - we're so used to his excellence but he's been easily our best player for over a year now Maxi Kyrgiakos
-
My stream went on 70mins, but that was a decent all around performance. If Torres and Gerrard weren't having a serious off day we would've thumped them. Roy's here til summer, we'll finish between 8th and 12th, he'll be lauded for steadying the ship after that dastardly spaniard wrecked the club. Pepe was ace as usual. Maxi and the Greek had good games

The frustration I can understand, and it's up to yourself if you want to hurl ever more abusive and childish insults Hodgsons way - personally I've enjoyed some of Rushiesbushymustachs crasser efforts - but look at it coldly and it seems obvious that NESV are not going to get shot until there is a sustainable long term plan and replacement lined up no matter how abject the football and how far down the table we slide between now and January at the least. My guess is that Roy will slowly improve, we'll slowly climb to mid table, finish somewhere around 10th - and then over the summer the new manager and regime (possibly with Kenny as DoF??) will be installed. Meantime all this spleen will continue to be vented across the Liverpool fora, it's what the web was invented for.

"thirty five years Ive been in this game so I think by now I'm able to spot a player and El Ninos old man can do a job up front for the football club, especially now the lad Torres has had his head turned by a club of the stature of Man Utd"

This Pepe story is pure press guff - the Rooney saga is dead, Mancs are on a PR mission to prove to their fans they're in for quality players, we're struggling, Pepe's world class....pick a (unrealistic, manc friendly) number, say...12million: there you go. No quotes in the piece whatsoever, it's b****x.

I think Blackburns defending flattered them - the Greek should've had 3 goals from corners pulled eyeball ligaments? ...dead ear?...ennui
-
This along with the Kenny "promotion" rumour - probably made up/wishful thinking - but if any semblance of truth, surely it makes Roys position untenable....who picks the team? He'd have to walk. here's hoping

I find it hard to judge the game cos my stream wasnt the best, but overall a much more positive and hungry performance. It doesn't ultimately matter who takes credit for that - Roy or the players - cos we reverted to nervous and vulnerable type 2nd half. And it has to be said Blackburn were all over the place defensively - in normal circumstances we would've hockeyed them. Weird game and weird limbo feeling while Hodgson's still in charge. I honestly think he's a dead man walking and the owners are still preparing their post Roy strategy.

Tricky alright but it's their job and they have a decent track record on this, albeit in a different sport...the optimist in me thinks they are on the case, actually seeking council from the right people and running the rule over potential managers.
-
Painful though it is, here's my wishful thinking: NESV have a points/league position target/nadir in mind for when to pull the trigger on Hodgson should performances not continue to improve before Jan when they plan to get rid anyway - the logic being to give them enough time to explore the manager market and make an informed choice. According to that theory Roy should be gone after we lose at home to Blackburn and hit the bottom of the table.

Should the new owners sack Roy Hodgson with immediate effect ?

Re: Riijkard - didn't he inherit a quality squad at Barca? I think he'd struggle with our squad to play the kind of football he's made his rep with...unless NESV are prepared to give him a lot of money in Jan... highly unlikely all around -

He has to go, the wheels have come off - although I'd fear for whoever comes in after him, especially Kenny, could do his rep some serious damage trying to drag the morale and performances up to scratch. For what it's worth my take on this is that - as per Elisha Scotts thesis - senior players were pissed off with Rafa, wanted a change (preferably English); got their wish and now it's backfired in spectacular fashion they're reeling; they dont know how to react to the old mans regime, his primitive, undynamic tactics and the mediocrity (Poulson, PFK) he's brought to the club. Another thing - I wasn't ever fully convinced by the nasty southern press/xenophobia arguments re: Rafa's treatment. I though Rafa's confrontational style naturally attracted it. I was wrong; the c**** are still at it - still chipping away erroneously at his record while Hodgson drags us further down in the s***. -
Hicks searches his colon for money

It's really encouraging what they did with Fenway Park, really hope these guys will appraise Anfield for a similar kind of reconstitution
-
Even if the sale goes through by Friday I really dont see NESV wading in and letting Hodgson go - too much drama too early in the reign. He gets til Jan at least probably with the promise of 20 odd mill to spend under the tacit understanding that results improve. Purslow's already alluded to that no doubt based on communications with NESV. More than likely they wont be listing any priorities and regarding the stadium they'll take their time and get it right as they did with Fenway park. (at least that's my optimistic hope on this happy day).

This is just beautiful. It went smoother than we dared to hope. H&G will doubtless drag it out in the courts - but they're gone, thank f*** for that. Let these new owners do right by the club and fans, run us fairly and effectively, remodel Anfield and we'll be back up on our perch.
-
he could lose a few stone coat etc..

Totally agree, which makes it all the more mystifying what went on between them. I said at the time Rafa would live or die by what happened when Barry came in for Xabi as was his plan; obviously it was scuppered and all downhill from there but it would've been interesting to see. We've had a dysfunctional and unbalanced midfield ever since (under both managers) Is it really as simple as Xabi was never replaced?
-
It is wrong. Beat Everton no matter what (same would apply to the mancs). There'll be plenty more games against modest opposition for RH to add nails to his coffin.
-
Everything points to that, and to the fact that this offensive by Hicks is a desperate and doomed action - but I've been wrong on everything up to now and it's hard to make the call and tempt fate yet again I think the Texas Rangers example is probably the way it's going to go - months of legal hell resulting in pain and frustration for everyone especially Hicks
-
it's massive for Broughtons rep this - if he's overlooked any detail allowing Hicks a chance to win the case it wont look good for him
