babel s you tube clips were awesome...so you cant really tell. But from these clips he seems a sheareresque type of player, very direct at goal and seems to score at will... hopefully he will be our new shearer instead of our new voronin.

i think our main problem is that as a team we defend too deep. we should be defending higher up the pitch. i believe that is what rafa desires but he hasnt got the right personnel to play that way, in the sense that our central defenders lack the necessary pace. if we can manage to stay more compact as a team we will be able to create more chances and this is where the genius of aquilani will come in. if we are too strecthed opposition will find more space and will make it easier for them to be dangerous. In masch we have the perfect player in midfiled to play such a game. Yossi aquilani riera, gerrard and torres will be able to combine better betwwen them, but we always seem to fall too deep when defending and i think the main culprits for this are the central defenders.

if we dont manage to snatch some sort of striker in the next couple of days, i would like rafa to give babel a chance as a lone striker in torres absence... i mean ngog is too raw...he has been given loads of chances even when he plays bad, albeit he occasionally comes up with some good stuff, but still he is too raw to be leading our line at the moment. babel cant do much worse.

Kuyt s commitment and workrate is immense. his love for the club and his respect for the fans is undoubted. His main attributes are his strength and workrate. But no one can deny the fact that his technical abilty is avreage at best and he lacks pace. Thus he should not be playing every game, for a team challenging for the title. Not a dig at kuyt. I would dread the day he leaves the club, but he is not a 'brilliant player'. He is a good squad player.

The sum of 12 million for jones would be a mistake imo. if that s the fee asked of him i wouldnt fork 12 mill on jones. i would try to bring somenoen on loan this year, save some money, perhaps increase the sum next summer and buy someoen better. If we were talkingin the region of 5mill, i would consider jones as peripheral memeber of the squad, due to having an option, of thrusting in a big strong striker when needed, but joens shouldnt be considered as a regular in the liverpool squad. To spned 12 mill ona a peripheral player is a tad too expensive in my book.

Agree with almost everything in this thread, buy really have to reply to this...Kuyt despite his brace, for all his hustle and bustle was poor in my book tonight. he missed at least 3 clear-cut chances. Only problem last nite was that yet again we were not clinical enough in front of goal and we risked a stoke after missing all those opportunities. Otherwise the team played fantastically well.

Greek and masch were the chief marshals last nite on the pitch. Riera and to a lesser extent aqui were the creative forces. Kuyt grabbed the goals but missed too many chances. Well done lads! EDIT: Special mention goes to pepe as well. couple of terrific saves, nearly fecked everything with the dfoe goal tho

Ngog is an enigma! One game he seems unable to control a simple pass and other times he seems to have flashes of a henry/torres mixture type of player.

Mascherano at 25 is one hell of a player. hope he doesnt feck off to barca.

A.C. Milan s, Klass Jan Huntellar wants to leave Milan on loan for the rest of the season i n order to claim a place in the Dutch World Cup squad. We badly needs a striker and i think he would be a great coup to our striking options.

certainly not mentally slow, quite the contrary. he has great vision and possess the 'spli-defence pass in him' technically he s also very good. he can score, has a whopping shot in him, we havent seen it yet. his problems are exclusively physical. my main concern is how long before his next injury and his strength. he needs to beef up a bit for the premier league. otherwise he will be a liverpool legend.

is maxi rodriguez eligible to play? it is also inexplicable how rafa left babel out of this one... i am a strong supporter of rafa but with such a depleted squad at his disposal, rafa should be given a run, unless reports are true that we are trying to exchange arda turan with babel...

clearly lack of funds halted rafa s and our club progress. as he stated himself in an interview a couple of days ago, on dossena purchase. Rafa wanted and wants to add width to our squad but has never found enough funds to buy them. he stated that wingers are very expensive and so he tried to buy attacking full-backs such as the doss to provide width in that manner. Doss in italy played with udinese who played in a 3-5-2 system where he was deployed as wing-back and used to attack a lot and had/has a very good left foot. Sadly for him and us it didint work out. Last season Glenn Johnson was immense, even whenever he played for england he was always one of the best players on the pitch. Thus he had a huge price-tag. Portsmouth were skint and owed us money they could not reach to pay. rafa seized the opportunity. he managed to acquire the country bestr right full-back and solved portsmouth crouch s debt issue. My point is rafa, like many of us knows our team s deficiencies, he despearetly want to add width and another stiker. he is trying to patch these problems in the best way possible. on renewing his contract the only thing he really insisted upon was to have more control over the academy. Why?? to be able to adopt wenger s system of buying many youngsters in the hope we will coup the new messi and fabregas. a new manger will have to do the same. he will not do any miracles. Rafa clearly has the best intersts of the club at heart. amongst others he won 2 league titles with valencia, CL wit us and amother final. Thus no thanks i stick with rafa during this bad patch... So gunga din, kev et all are spouting plain bulls*** at a manager during his bad spell, a manager who clearly at this point in time only deserves our full support.
