    Moaning,

I think the foundations are being laided to enable us to make a real attempt to win the league. In that respect, I think we are in an improving position to win the league. If we get a genuine 20 goal a season player next year we will win the league.

  6. I was in The Anny Road end with my dad sitting on a concrete wall at the back of the stand. I think (could be wrong) it was the first game you had to pay a £1 to get into. Is that right? We were in the queue ages before the game and got in with loads of time to spare but the crowds just kept coming in. It was really chocca I was 10 at the time and remember the absolute bedlam that took place when Fairclough scored. Magical times

  21. Actually, I think it's great for them. They get the chance to be a small club in a small pond
  22. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ton/6411501.stm There'll be a queue in the passport office
  23. John, I thought that too. But then I decided I was being overly cynical - if it was a PR exercise, it's a feckin' good one. Genuinely worded and the tone spot on. btw. did you get my reply e mail re:villa. Your e mail of yesterday only arrived in my inbox this morning
  24. RIP Shapla - YNWA wonder what Boris Johnson would make of that
  25. I very rarely buy the Daily Mirror, but did so this morning after glancing at the back page at the station. I thought it was a good series of articles and to be honest, I can fully appreciate where he's coming from about not wanting all the trappings of being a footie player especially the life under a microscope aspect. The part about only being calm when he's had a few was a bit worrying, especially after his career finishes. It's funny, but the things which happened in Portugal may have a hugely positive effect on him and the squad.
