Before that match I thought that we had the perfect team and formation out there. With how City line up with so many runners from deep and Elano, Robinho and Wright Phillips behind the front man I thought bringing back Mascherano was essential. I've seen a lot of comments about how Rafa got it wrong today, yet I cannot recall anyone highlighting this before the match!! If they did, then fair play, but it's an easy game to judge after the event...

Wasn't it Ince who smuggled the photographer in in the first place?

re: Hughes at left back. I could change by next week, as basically I pick 2 from Rob Jones, Steve Nicol and Emlyn Hughes and it changes with my mood.

Kuyt has been excellent this season. I'd hazard a guess he's been pretty much directly involved in about 1/3 of our goals.

Bring back the old Gary Mac corner. Big man on the front post, dink it into the front post for the flick on, other players attacking from deep to get either the flick on or the direct corner. We scored a good few from those types of corner, and Gerrard should be one of the players attacking the ball as he's one of our best attacking headerers (is that even a word?) of the ball. It's also an easier dead ball to put in, but is still effective.

How the hell can Rafa be under more pressure in the media (regarding supposedly losing his job) than Ramos? It's a crazy world!

On a related note regarding the merits of whether Vidic/Terry should be a Yellow/Red, at one point does the player(s) in question become a factor? I'm sure the reason the ref gave a yellow is that Ferdinand was level with Keane and probably would have got back to at least put Keane under pressure, and as such this was not interpreted as a CLEAR goalscoring opportunity. What if it was Torres going through? With his pace the same tackle, in the same place probably DID deny a clear goalscoring opportunity. What if it was Laurent Blanc instead of Ferdinand? He wouldn't have caught Keane whereas I think Ferdinand probably would. What if it was Voronin? Nothing would count as a clear goalscoring opportinity in that case? Just food for thought...

Speaking of over-zealous celebrations... ... one of our mob (Black Matty) was left with a suspected broken nose pouring with blood after getting Kev's elbow in his face whilst celebrating the first goal. There was blood everywhere, with about 5 of us having it on our clothes, the seat and the floor covered, and you could see spots of blood up to 4 foot away. That'll teach him to bunk into our row!!

I think you're forgetting that despite Saturday's game and result we are actually a 2 man team. How are you going to win anything when you are relying on your best players? You need every player in your team to be your best player so you're not relying on your 2 best players. It was only after Gerrard came on that we actually led the game, and Torres was warming up at the time and I believe that this actually distracted the defence as they were worrying about what they'd do when he came on and that meant they under-estimated Kuyt and Babel, leading to the winner.

Strange this thread. I thought Scholes was their best midfielder on Saturday? I even commentated that he's still a class your average midfielder. Opinions.... they're like a******s etc etc

That doesn't always get the support of everyone in the ground, and has led to some bitching and confrontation. Personally I don't see the problem when the players aren't on the pitch, but some seem to want to keep it outside the ground. I believe it's too important for that!!
