  1. What a load of b******s. I have a ticket for basically every match... why? Because I go to basically every match!! All this "if only I could get a ticket" s**** does my head in, as if you want to go the match badly enough, you'll be able to go. You start off with the smaller games where it general sale... you then get loyalty for other games... you then qualify for most games... you then qualify for virtually every game... you then have a ticket office f*** up do you out of a ticket, but know enough faces from the match you get sorted... It was little over 10 years ago where you could walk up to the ticket office in June/July and get a Season Ticket there and then. And how someone who wasn't even there can criticise I don't know... Yes, the atmosphere was very flat. I think it was a hangover from Wednesday as people were still very down and gutted. I know personally I have been on a downer since then, and couldn't really be arsed to sing the whole game. I did sing a fair bit, but not all the time as perhaps usually I would. It felt like a meaningless end of season game... perhaps because it was!! And as for the high horse of "getting the Yanks out"... I've been jeered, booed and frowned upon by other Liverpool fans for actually participating in those chants. Some said they shouldn't take place during the match as you need to support the players... so it was changed to after the match. Some said that it made it look like a knee-jerk reaction to a poor result, so it was changed to half time (making a point of waiting until every player had left the pitch, and stopping the second the first player came out - at which point a huge chant of Liverpool went up)... so the protests have become a lot more tactical to try and maximise impact. Personally I'd have liked to see some major action at the end of the game yesterday, but it didn't happen. it wasn't the best chance to get it in their faces, as they weren't there!! Arsenal was the best chance as they were there, but many fans (who in my opinion are often apathetic) feel that supporting the team is more important so didn't want any protests during this hugely important game - so nothing happened. So exactly how many of the protests have you actually been involved in... Were you there when the stewards were trying to intimidate by seemingly filming and making notes regarding who was involved? Were you there when the police were trying to break up the protest on its way to the Main Stand? Which of the flags/banners that have been seen were yours? It seems like a case of do as I say, not as I do to me...
  2. It would appear that the loudest chant was City FOR the Yanks. Chanting USA, USA whilst they are in thier current situation?? t***s!!

    Finnan

I think there's an element of truth in this. I think there are some players who seem to be able to adapt to being rotated, and are able to come in and play a game having not played for a couple of weeks and hit top form straight away. Others I feel need to be playing week in week out to be able to play at their best. I have thought this previously about Crouch (though in recent weeks he's been very good on the whole), and think that Crouch is not good at playing the odd game here and there, and I also think he often has little impact as a substitute (compare him with some like Pongelle who was so often anonymous when starting, but often makes things happen when he came on as a sub - some would use Babel as an example of that too). I think the likes of Finnan and perhaps Carragher and Alonso rely on their positioning, touch, reading of the game, and generally their brain more than natural athletic ability (though Carra is supposedly the fittest in our squad) and there is an argument that they need to play week in week out to keep their levels up, whereas someone like Babel (or Pongolle, Cisse etc) who rely more on physical attributes are more able to adapt to playing occasionally. I'm not sure if I've got my point across here, but i know what I mean haha
  5. I've been winding my mates up about this one... Seemingly a good assistant, but I've been giving it the "I hope for you sake Jewell doesn't go as we know what'll happen then... Hutchings in for 10 games and next thing you're in League 1"
  6. I got the previous year as 11...
  7. Very good!!
  8. Not including years in which an English club appeared in the final... In which year did 12 players who have played in the Premiership appear in the European Cup final? You time starts... ... now!!!
  9. No mate. I'm one of those wool types and have to drive, so i only get to stay over with the lads a few times a year. I know a few of the lads who are in The Sandon though. After the Arsenal 4-2 game I was in The Albert doing Babel-Time in a big and messy way!!
  10. Same as 'Two Little Boys' and 'Ring Of Fire'... just a belting song that a few lads like, so they sing it and it's just part of a good sing-song. Gets sung on a the coaches first of all, then hits the pubs. I remember after the Chelsea Semi Final last year us going to The Grapes after the match and having a belting sing-song which ended with 'Two Little Boys' which was incredible. One of the best sing songs ever.
  11. Not heard it mentioned over here at all (but then I don't pay too much attention to the media rumours), but a lad i work with has a load of Dutch mates who are big Feyenoord fans (travel across for most matches from Derby and all that). They have been saying that the big rumour around Feyenoord is that De Guzman is going to join Liverpool in the Summer. With the Echo reporting that we're not after Rafinha (as most seemed to think the 'english speaking first team player' was), then could it be De Guzman? Has anyone else heard anything of this one? I've never knowingly seen the lad, so can't pass judgement. i think he plays right-wing, and he is only 20. I do seem to recall him being a good young player on Champ so no doubt that'll keep half our fans happy!!
  12. Mascherano is my favourite player by some margin at the moment. Love the little lad. I can imagine him stood in the tunnel, tweaking the opposition's nipples, standing on their toes, scowling and growling. He's a horrible, moaning, cynical little b*****d... but he's OUR horrible, moaning, cynical little b*****d!!

  14. It has to be seen to make sense. It's the bit from MC Hammer's 'Hammer Time' where he goes "STOP... Hammer Time... Whoaaaoaaa Whooaaaoaaaa Whooaaaaoooaa STOP.... Hammer Time" But do BABEL-TIME instead. it must be accompanied with moshing, and lots of ale being swilled for it to really work. it's a classic!! In The Albert after the Arsenal QF it was bouncing... a belter!!
  15. It will take off I reckon, but will take time... Just waiting for the young uns to get onto it and that will be it...
  16. Radio City May 25th 2005 Absolutely brilliant!! The other one that sticks in my mind is v QPR in the 87/88 season:
  17. Got that on my phone. Incredible!!
  18. I've spoken to my brother today and he's told me a wonderful story that has brought a little bit of joy on a day of such sadness. He posted it on RAWK (which he uses more): http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=217525.0 Andy Gray posted: I know that my brother, the other Andy and the other lads who went the match together have been really concerned with Ian's wellbeing, so for him to just turn up from nowhere has been incredible for them. It feels strange that they are feeling joy on a day like today, but they have gotten a good friend back on a day when they lost a great friend 19 years ago. I thought I would share this with you all...
  19. Because the stewards got wind of johngibo YPC's plan to handcuff himself to the post. whilst butt naked with "HICK OUT" written on his chest and "YANKS: TRUST US - MY a***" written on his behind. As such the handcuffs stayed in his pocket, and the clothes stayed on!! I think Kev must have tipped them off after the original (then deleted) post on here...
  20. McManaman Hargreaves Lambert Did John Charles win it with Juve? How many are there?
  21. I've check Gordon Cowans and he wasn't there when they won it in 95. So far by my reckoning there's: David Batty - Leeds (92) & Blackburn (95) Eric Cantona - Leeds (92) & Man Utd (93) Bobby Mimms - Everton (87) & Blackburn (95) John Lukic - Leeds (92) & Arsenal (98) So just 1 short...
  22. Would Bobby Mimms have got a medal with Everton (85 and/or 87) and Blackburn (95)? Was Gordon Cowans at Blackburn in 95? I've got a vague recollection of him being there but not sure when. Also won it with Villa?
