  2. Strewth... It'll be a G'day for the club if that flaming gallar makes it....
  3. The England player has been named elsewhere... And I can't believe who the only person to have named him correctly on this thread is (even if it was just a guess)!!!

  5. I think the penalites highlighted on thing though... that team may not have had the most ability in the world but it had a lot of f***ing bottle!! Look at how half the Chelsea team didn;t fancy taking a penalty (resulting in Terry feeling obliged to step up) and in the Old Trafford evidently both sides had trouble getting 5 people willing to take a penalty. Compare that with Liverpool in 2005: Hamann, Cisse, Riise and Smicer took one. That's 4 players. Gerrard was number 5, and Alonso had already taken one, so that's 6 players willing to take a penalty in a European Cup final. We know the others must have volunteered as Garcia was desperate to take one, but didn't, so that makes 7 players. Carragher has taken penalties in a League Cup final and the World Cup, so would surely have been willing, but as mentioned above Rafa went with those who were fittest and Carra had severe cramp... so it's safe to say Carra would be willing to make it 8 players. An Hyypia took the 2nd penalty in an FA Cup final shootout, so again I'm assuming he'd have been willing to take one if needed. So out of the 10 outfield players left on the field, the only one who either a) Didn't volunteer (beg in Garcia's case) or b) Take a penalty in another major shootout/final is Djimi Traore... and who knows... maybe he fancied it But seriously... I think you'd be hard pushed to find a team with so many people willing to step forward under pressure to take a huge penalty.
  6. Boss video of Maradona warming up in time to "Life is Life" (a belter of a tune too)
  7. If you pissed in a fella's pocket, wouldn't he notice?
  8. I remember one goal for Napoli where he lobs the keeper who is standing tall from about 10 yards out. He scoops the ball over the keeps kead and it goes nigh on vertical over the keeper and drops just in front of the crossbar and in. The best player EVER!! Think of some of Pele's most famous moments: - The shot from the half way line - MISS - Dummying the ball around the keeper - MISS - Gordon Bank's save - MISS Think of some of Maradona's most famous moments: - The handball - GOAL - The dribble - GOAL - The celebration in the World Cup before his drugs ban - GOAL
  9. Hahaha Not sure what's going on, but it's funny!!

  11. The mad one I've heard is that Derby are after Phil Neville!! And this is from a decent source as well!!
  12. Not necessarily. It's not that simple. There's a lot of very good players at the bigger clubs who may well do a very good job for us who may not necessarily be first choice. Momo Sissoko left us as he couldn't get a game and is now pretty much first choice for Juve... that's just the first example I though of. I think if you look at the overall package - availability, fee, experience, suitability to our formation etc then there's a hell of a positives.
  13. Not seen him much this season, so he may be past it, but I loved Ludovic Giuly when he was at Barca, and think he'd be brilliant for the right hand side. Doesn't perhaps score as many as he maybe should, but does contribute with goals, an excellent crosser, a very busy player, and technically very sound. Unless he's aged or gone backwards a lot in the last 12 months I'd be made up to see him at Liverpool. He's also not a regular at Roma, and is usually on the bench, so perhaps could be tempted. There's talk of him going to Galatasary or to play in Qatar, so surely we could beat them to his signature if he's available? Would be pretty cheap too. The fella ticks all the boxes, plus has a good CV
  14. Fowler's not made it onto the bench. The young lad Ramsey is on the bench. Want Pompey to win now if Fowler's not playing.
  15. I think you've gone totally the wrong way with that one... I actually think Raul's absence will be a factor in actually reducing personal indifferences and creating a better team ethic. Plus the fact they have so many players now based abroad, it seems there is less of the old Barca (Catalan) v Madrid v Basque v Everyone else splits that have been a problem in the past. I'd love Spain to win it!!

  20. He just gets injured a lot...
  21. I suspect that IF we signed Drenthe, then he'd become a bit of a cult hero. I loved watching him in the U21 Championship, and wanted us to sign him then. His all action style and the fact he's tearing around like a Tazmanian devil would soon get fans onside. If he's learned a few lessons in Madrid then he could be an inspired signing, IMO. Not too sure whether he'd be willing to come as a left back though, but if he is there would also be an argument for using him left wing in some 'tougher' aways and he'd give us 'possibilities'.
  22. What about if a close member of family or a best mate was a player? What would you do then? I'm guessing you'd still have an allegiance to your 'original' team from birth, and go to see them when there's no clash, but if you're going home and away to watch the player you'd have to learn to love the player's team I reckon? A lad from my school is a player has his Dad & Brother watch basically every game he's ever played, and that's covered 3 clubs, including the one they all grew up supporting. I wonder where their real allegiance would lie?
  23. I know it's coming but it still makes me chuckle. One of my favourite bits of forum lore!!
  24. Why are you calling Riise a dumb ginger c***? Why wasn't he allowed to say goodbye to the fans who have backed him so much and love him so much? It's a travesty!!
  25. I hate him, but I have some respect for Roy Keane (the Haaland tackle and referee baiting apart). Would have loved him at Liverpool. I think his comments about Sunderland and the players not being good enough were a refreshing change (though he does have to be careful not to become a parody of himself with all this "hard task-master" stuff). The others I have respected (but still hated) include: Giggs, Scholes, and Irwin. I also have a sneaky bit of admiration for how Gary Neville has set himself up as the Scouse hater and all that. I loved the fact that Carra turned round and said how he hopes United lose as he doesn't like them, and how Fowler wound them up and all that.
