  1. That's virtually a full reserve team so what's going to happen to the lads from the academy? How are they going to play them all?
  2. I'm struggling to think of any great wingers West Ham had last season and Tevez still did ok - You can't change a team over one summer, but Tevez is too good to miss out on if we can get him, even if that means sticking with Pennant and Kewell for one more season.
  3. That's the sensible view and you are more than likely right, but players like Tevez don't come round very often - and when they do normally Man U or Chelsea are able to use their advantages to tie them up to deals - so as we have a chance to sign Tevez I'd like to see us take it. Tevez has a fantastic attitude to go with his talent, and I hope this makes him appeal to Rafa - and at just 23 paying £25m could still be great business. Given our recent buying history I can't see it happening, but I would be so happy if we did sign both Torres and Tevez, and would be very confident about the future and our ability to challenge for the league for the first time in ages.
  4. To be fair to him about 10 days ago he was asked how much it would cost to buy Torres and said "Garcia plus £15m" which seems to be the case...

    Luis Garcia

I would be very sad to see Luis go - you always fancy Garcia to pop up with a goal to turn a tight game. Hope he stays.
  6. "Miguel Veloso is a highly promising central defender who is equally as home playing as a defensive midfielder." That's him signed then.
  7. If our forward line next season is Torres and Tevez I will weep with joy. If it's Bent and Cisse I will also weep.
  8. I can't get beyond 'Lucky f***ing b@stard'
  9. Is this on UK TV does anyone know?
  10. I preferred Ostrich Man as a username, but you are a Man U fan I suppose
  11. I can't really understand how Henry - possibly the best player in the world, still only 29, having just signed a four year ontract and with other interested teams like AC Milan in the background - can be sold for £16 million, while Bent is worth £17 million. That's an almost Liverpool-esque bit of business.
  12. Nah, he misses open goals from six yards out! Thank God.
  13. That's the spirit!
  14. My thoughts exactly - the black one looks awful.
  15. I had a sinking feeling as soon as I saw it wasn't on our shirt. It's our good luck omen, and it's been on all our recent cup winning shirts: Can't wait til we get rid of the 'new' crest which I just associate with not winning the league since we've had it, and go back to a Liverbird with just a single Hillsborough flame.
  16. Rafa is learning about the Premiership all the time - we have the best young manager in world football I think, so the future's bright, and with the right backing I have very little doubt he'll win us the Premiership. And I'm an ultra pessimist too.
  17. Excellent!
  18. I think psychologically signing Henry or Tevez (preferably both) would have a dramatic effect, because instead of thinking that Champions League qualification was our realistic goal, you'd look at our team with them on board and think we could really challenge Man U and Chelsea for the title next year. Quality costs.

    P M T

I feel sick every time an advert comes on telly etc, so am trying to avoid it and not think about it until Wednesday.

  23. I agree and the same could be said about Tevez, although everyone knew he was quality he was still a bit of a gamble as to how he would adapt to the Premiership. Rather than spend £20-£30m on either of those I think we will make equivalent more prudent signings, who will hopefully prove themselves just as good. That said the glory era in the 70s and 80s wasn't all managerial brilliance, sometimes it was just about paying top dollar for proven quality players.
  24. Damn I actually believed this too. Darren Bent it is then...
