The results of that poll are quite condemning.

What would Rafa's team look like if he'd been backed properly?
Paisley replied to Paisley's topic in Liverpool FC
Maybe so but I find it hard to believe we lost a legal argument that a club could prevent a player being sold to another club against his wishes, I'm sure that goes against European employment legislation. -

Less of a thread title, more of a rant! -
If Rafa had been given the financial backing enjoyed by Chelsea and Man Utd over the last few years, what do you think his team would look like now? I'm afraid Rafa is getting judged on players he's had to settle for, rather than the ones he'd really have liked, and that looks likely to continue in January - If you pay peanuts you get Voronin... Rafa is one of the best managers around and could easily win the league if he had been given a level playing field with the likes of Mourinho and Ferguson. If we are (or more accurately 'they' are) stupid enough to get rid of him, then I'm sure he'll go to Real Madrid and just about win the lot with them. If he'd been given the clout to get his top targets then this is the kind of team we could have had by now - easily capable of winning the league: --------------Reina-------------------- Alves----Vidic----Carragher----Heinze Gerrard-----Mascherano------Simao --------------Tevez------------------- --------Torres-------Villa--------------

You do know this is a wind up don't you?
-
Have to admit I think £17m is too pricey for Mascherano, and some people are going over the top about his ability. He's a good defensive midfielder and £10m would be a fair price. I don't even think he's better as a defensive midfielder than Hamann was, and he only cost £8m in an over-inflated transfer market. If we were spending £17m I'd rather it was on another top quality striker.

ferguson says manc fans are sh*te
Paisley replied to Stevie H 's topic in General Football Discussion
This is the relevant part of the interview for us it seems to me: "Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez suffered a much publicised bust-up with Anfield owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks, but Ferguson insists there is no such problem at Old Trafford. "At a number of clubs there have been problems with friction between managers and owners," said Ferguson. "But you can see how smoothly the United ship is running as far as that is concerned, despite early hostility over the Glazer family's ownership. "Those protests were unfair because they weren't given a chance but the Glazers kept their cool and our owners have been nothing but supportive. "Good teamwork starts at the top and I am happy to say, that is what we have at Old Trafford." F*** me our new owners make the Glazers look desirable. Fergie can add Berbatov to his array of stars while we scour the continent for a cheap centre-half. Hope he's as good as Voronin. -
Neither should he be absolved of blame when he's the guy in charge and doesn't seem to be up to the task. If it's coming down to him or Rafa then my God I know who I'd rather see leave.

I almost felt like we'd have a better chance playing with 10 men - there were two players behind him that would have buried that chance in the last minute. He's so slow too, there were a couple of good balls played through to him, but because of his lack of pace the defenders cleared what should have been an opportunity. It's coming to something when you cast envious glances towards Blackburn's strikefore nevermind Man U's.

It really bugs me if it's true that Rafa is going into the transfer market this January with no money. Parry oversaw the hunt for investment and therefore has to take the majority of the blame for lumbering us with the two Americans. Financially we are no better of when it comes to buying top quality players than we were before the takeover. Even dodgy old Thaksin Shinawatra is giving Sven the money needed to get Man City challenging for a Champions League place, and it's going to be painful watching them splash the cash while Rafa has to scrape around trying to find the money for his fifth choice centre-half target. A lot of football isn't brain surgery, and even though we have possibly the best young manager in the world, he still needs to be backed in the transfer market. We need to pay top dollar for more Torres type players (not just one show transfer bought on credit) if we ever seriously want to compete again. If you penny pinch you end up with Voronin, and the way things are going Rafa is going to be judged on player's he's had to settle for, when if you gave him the money for Garay, Richards, Berbatov or whoever his preferred targets are, he could really get us competing again. Under Parry's reign we have come to settle for mediocrity, you sense there's an acceptance that we just can't compete with the Man U's and Chelsea's of the world, and as long as we qualify for the Champions League then that's realistically our target. I can't see any evidence that's going to change under the Americans, as despite their fine words they aren't backing Rafa in the transfer market like we need to, and the acceptance of mediocrity looks set to continue. Nothing will change until we get rid of Parry, and with any luck the Americans too. It's time this club was run professionally again, with people who won't rest until they get Liverpool back to the top where they belong. Sorry for the rant but it's heartfelt, as I'm sick of the way the club is being run by those in charge at present, and the seeming acceptance of this state of affairs.

Idiot.

In the thread title are you calling Parry a c*** or a c***? Either is good with me, but just for clarification purposes.
-
Yes I stand corrected!

I think the fact that Moores paid £10m for Kuyt out of his own pocket, proves beyond any doubt that his primary concern was the good of Liverpool FC itself, and I doubt the extra cash was decisive for him. However I get the impression that he isn't the shrewdest businessman around, and could be easily swayed by those around him. Parry on the other hand I'm highly suspicious of - it was comical how the DIC bid went from highly desirable to 'not that great actually' once the Americans came in with their smooth promises and offered to let him stay as Chief Executive. GET RID OF THAT CLOWN.
-
The club has been left behind in the last 10 years or so, and is as far away from winning the league as ever...
-
I think Liverpool has been badly managed ever since Parry took charge, and I would never trust the guy to make the right decision. Can't wait for him to be replaced, and if people want to start getting vocal about it then that's fine by me and well deserved in my opinion. Don't think the club will ever move forward with him in charge.
-
...and take Parry with you.
-
What you mean woo us all by promising a world class acquisition, then realise you can't afford it and go for a cheap bog-standard alternative instead? That would suggest our club is run by idiots for goodness sake...
