Don't understand why someone like El Zhar hasn't had a look in since some of the early season games. He did quite well in some of those games, looked bright and lively and wasn't scared to try a few things, but he isn't even on the bench tonight. Or give Nemeth or Pacheco a chance in a game like this, someone with a bit of fire and energy. Instead we'll all just groan when Lucas come on.

Was just thinking the same myself, you often see Fergie at games watching potential signings in person, but I can't ever remember seeing Rafa in the stands in the same way. At the end of the day he will be judged by the signings he makes, so you'd think he'd want to see potential signings in person rather than relying on scouting reports and video footage. Walcott supported Liverpool so that argument doesn't always hold up. If we'd made him feel like we wanted him the most then I'm sure we could have got him - whether the owners would have stumped up the cash is another matter.
