yeah, for this reason I'm going controversial with Riedle and Morientes. Neither terrible and good pros, just wanted more, pair of them lacked a bit of aggression for their role I think.

3's OK, its the ones who stop at 2 who are a problem. Not sure where this leaves Elton John & Reg Dwight

Yeah, so lets gather some evidence He did, but (if memory serves) there were also times when he picked a CM 3 and Gerrard wouldn't be in it so I'm not sure he trusted him tactically. Again, I'm not having a go at Gerrard just making the point that nobody has the complete game in there so worrying about weaknesses in Trent's game misses the point, it'll be about the blend of players and how to get the best out of him. With Bradley coming through and a new manager/setup, now's the time...

I never said they weren't. But, for example, Rafa rarely trusted Gerrard to be one of a 2 in CM and as often as not various England managers would fudge him into the team elsewhere. From what I can tell a lot of the reservations about banging Trent in there are this kind of thing. I reckon he'd score more goals than any of our current midfield and bringing that range of passing into the middle isn't to be sniffed at. The positives and negatives are there with all midfielders, nobody is really complete in there so why not give this fella right under our noses a go??

We have no idea and close to zero evidence that this is true. There may be weaknesses with regard to systems and discipline but i doubt any more so than, say, Steven Gerrard. Its time to stop wondering and answer the question otherwise we might let a world class midfielder go on a free.

Even the A League have brought in rules to stop them cheating.... In 2016, the A-League brought in a rule known as the Caceres Rule after Melbourne City exploited a loophole to buy Australian midfielder Anthony Caceres from Central Coast Mariners. Melbourne City’s parent club Manchester City paid the transfer fee to sign Caceres, only to loan him straight to Melbourne. Caceres never took the field for Manchester City. His first game for Melbourne City came against the Phoenix and then-coach Ernie Merrick labelled the move as “farcical”. As A-League clubs are not able to buy and sell players amongst themselves, teams like Melbourne City and Auckland FC could cheat the system if Manchester City or Bournemouth pay for the transfer fee. The Caceres Rule was designed to prevent cashed-up overseas clubs buying players and loaning them to sister clubs within two transfer windows https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/350298980/little-known-rule-would-prevent-alex-paulsen-playing-auckland-fc

I don't know, he's got a very Corrie name (and face)

I think we have to consider there's a reasonable chance that these currently injury prone fellas - Konate, Jota, Curtis - aren't quite so injury prone under a different manager/system and there might be some fellas we currently think need replacing that might not? We've a reasonable recent history of signing fellas that looked unbreakable and breaking them

Not convinced about Isak. Whenever I've see him he's not always involved in the game and doesn't seem to put in a particularly big shift. Not relevant now but I bet Klopp wouldn't go near him. I guess the interesting question with Darwin might be, if he's not totally fked from putting in the work from a Klopp sytem might his decision making improve? There've never been many who could work put in the work of a Rushie and still finish

I'm gonna bite on this. Hair is definitely irrelevant but I don't think body shape is. I reckon about 2-3 years ago, as a result of growing up and filling out and/or training as a professional athlete he got a bit bigger, maybe an extra half stone. This will affect how much and how quickly he can move around a pitch for better or worse. Flip side is he might be stronger on the ball. But the bottom line is he can kick a football like nobody else in the world (bar maybe De Bruyne) and is also an incredible athlete (better than De Bruyne) and that's the kind of a s*** that you need to build a football team around. In other words, time to try him in the middle or spend the rest of our lives wondering what if...

The big fellas should tire as the game goes on but I don't really remember that happening in the first game - maybe cos we'd lost our heads -
On the other hand... might not have had to self-medicate quite so much??

Playing devil's advocate here... why did he get pulled then? I think (in a Klopp team at least) he doesn't get close enough to the opposition in the press and is a little too easily crowded out with the ball early in games, when everyone's at full power. I hope he can find a way around it because his form as a sub would get him into any team
-
He needs to outshine when he gets the chance to start is Harvey's problem. He's shown he can be the impact sub but he needs to show he can do the same from the off, think this is where his lack of size and/or speed makes life difficult.
