Its a weird one this. All along Rafa has said he wants time to build a squad, he's never once said he needs loads more cash. If its to compete with Chelsea then there'll never be enough money to go head to head with them for players. So I just don't get it, why are these stories coming out now.

I heard someone comparing Chelsea's brand of 'anti football' to the old Leeds. I'm assuming he meant the 1970's Leeds, I never saw them play but i've heard stories. Anyone reckon they compare in any way ?

Fair enough, i'm hopeful but I was also hopeful he'd hold out to sign for us from Madrid. I'd rather have him than Defoe who's been mentioned. You'd think that would be stating the obvious but there are loads apparently who wouldn't buy Owen if we had the chance.

Agree with that, he's one of the all time greats. Has something that no other footballer in the world has and he seems to do these bits of magic every week.

He plays alongside sensational players who give him room to play in. maradonna had to carry Argentina and napoli to titles almost single handedly. Think about who Ronaldinho has with him in the Barca team and Brazil team. Its Barca's best team for well over a decade, Brazil's best, arguably since 74. Not denying Ronaldinho as an all time great but John Barnes used to do what you have described on a regular basis, it doesn't make a footballer the best ever. Still Maradona for me.

I've really come round to this banner. Hated it at first but once you get used to the fact that not everything has to be in the old style then you start to appreciate whats good about the banner. As an effort to move up to date and incorporate the liverbird and some of our trophy winning greatness it does a damn good job. Its going to look impressive from all over the ground.

Sven will have Hargreaves in the squad. I wouldn't myself but he's a big Eriksson favourite when the tournaments come around. I wouldn't be surprised if Phil Neville was in the squad, another bizarre Sven favourite.

If its not surprising that he did it, why is he the only one who acted like such a tool in these matches ? Did you see Carragher do it after we'd knocked you out the cup ? before you say 'ah but that wasn't a last minute winner' Neville had to wait until the final whistle and then run the legth of the pitch so he had time to think about what he was doing. It wasn't a goal celebration, it was a pathetic weasel of a man making a t*** of himself.

Thats the thing isn't it. There's usually clips all over the internet within minutes of anything unsavoury. It only takes a knee high tackle or a 'racist comment by Big Ron' for people to make handy email size clips and send them on. There has definitely been a noticable increase in bulls*** coming from Old Trafford and the environs lately. I wouldn't go so far as to say the officials of the club had anything to do with this but Slur's recent public friendship with Alastair Campbell and the way they handled Neville's outburst (they span the story so well that it came across as Liverpool fans misbehaving) make me think they are doing all they can to manage their image and attempt to weaken the image of their rivals. nothing new I suppose.
