  1. Pulis and Pardew have both pulled those tactics off better than Arsenal did yesterday.
  2. Didn't really see anything in Pepe to be worried or excited about, for the money they spent anyway. Tbf, I said exactly the same about Henry on his debut, although the defenders he faced that day weren't of yesterday's standard.
  3. Ha, just come here from that shocker of a report. Also - we started ponderously, TAA put Salah in for the pen (although the pull was "unnecessary"), the third was a scamper into an empty penalty area, Willock beating TAA was a reportable highlight (me neither) and the only thing between the two sides was Luiz's errors. Reads like some despairing sub has tried to correct the worst excesses, but it's a real doozy.
  4. McNulty wrote similar about Pepe on the BBC website. Looked like a dodged bullet to me. Pace and trickery are not enough in themselves; might have thought of him having potential if he was a kid, not as a marquee signing.
  5. To - but a split infinitive so mea culpa.
  6. Well more a reference to invisibility as an opportunity to wistfully recall a still cherished occasion, but technically a single negative instance does refute an absolute statement, yes.
  7. The Barcelona defence certainly never saw him arriving...

  10. Was thinking that. I don't expect Sadio to lack fitness or sharpness now after a 3 week break; he may struggle later in the season without another mini-break though.

  21. Heard plenty of comments that we knew he was finished as a top player because of his injuries by the end of the previous season; so he must have felt it even keener. Throw in the ownership s***storm and Hodgson replacing Rafa, and it's understandable he felt the need to move, especially to somewhere where he could most likely get the (club) medal his ability deserved (notwithstanding his previous comments about Atletico and us as "Working Class" clubs). That we wasted the money they spent on him wasn't his fault; that his Chelsea career was s*** was funny (albeit medal-winning). The Marseille goal, where he tortured the defender so much he appealed for off-side even as Torres ran past him with the ball remains a highlight.
  22. Unless I misheard it, was also praising El Hadj Diouf - not a great position for a Liverpool fan and supposed mate of Gerrard
  23. The Breakfast Show tried to set that argument running yesterday as well. From what I could tell, they couldn't get any Newcastle fans to bite and slag him off
  24. The year Shankly arrived, and the modern Liverpool was born. (And Me)
