  4. Wonder if there's ever been a weekend with 3 such fantastic headed own goals as we've seen this weekend.

  6. Set pieces becoming a defining feature of the game again (and particularly the title race) is one of the s***test developments in recent years. And there's a load of competition on that one.
  7. Still hangs onto the ball too long sometimes, and I don't really want to see him doing too many twists and turns in our own box, but thought he was very good again today.
  8. Was weird and unnecessary that we basically stopped playing once we got to 2-0. Brighton had pretty much all the ball and pressure (ableit we had a couple of really good chances on the break away that we should have done better with). Had they scored one, it wouldn't have surprised me to see us concede a second, so becoming so passive was annoying.
  9. Nicer to be able to chat about refs when they've not impacted the result, and we've won anyway. Was an interesting bit on 47 mins - their player fouls Wirtz (I think) to break up a counter attack, and then throws the ball away. Thought either of those could have been a booking, but neither was. And then if you see the kick in the chest on Wirtz near the end, it was so, so late. Could easily have been a red card for that.
  10. Looked like he was holding it, but hopefully just cramp.

    Milos Kerkez

Was more involved because he didn't have Gakpo hating him in close proximity. Does he believe in a different version of Jesus or something?
  12. Unbeaten in 5. Better foundation. Still vulnerable at the back, and also interesting to see how other teams are able to play faster, more incisive attacking. But at least we had good intensity today, and that's impressive given tough away game in midweek with most of same players.
  13. A full week until our next game, which is good. Couple of them looked more like cramp, but obviously expect Gomez to be out for a while
  14. Looks like a proper Liverpool forward. Will learn to press better, but he's always willing to drop deep, get the ball, link play etc. Again, huge contrast between him and Isak. Even today, Isak comes on as sub and did almost no pressing despite fresh legs.
  15. I agree - although he came on and instantly tried to move forward or pass forward quickly, which helped our game. Most of our players have looked like they're playing in slow mo most of the time. And at least he tries through balls.
  16. Yeah - him and Wirtz regularly make runs and nobody even tries to pass. The amount of times we get into the final third, one of our attacking players makes a run, and then we come to a complete stop and play the ball sideways or backwards instead is bonkers. Even worse now that teams just let Konate have the ball because he might gift them a goal as a result of it. That's why I wonder what we're doing on the training pitch and what tactics we're actually trying to play.

  18. I do get that. but there still doesn't seem to be any meaningful style of play beyond keeping the ball. We have the highest possession % in the league, but do so little with it. We were better tonight, but the slowness and pointlessness of our play is insane given the talent we have. Agree 100% re Gakpo. He's not a bad player, but he's completely predictable, and doesn't trust Kerkez at all when he overlaps...
  19. Obviously great to win (one forgets what it feels like after a while), but I'd love to see what we do on the training pitch, because I really don't understand how we are trying to play. Wirtz is the only one that tries through balls - and the amount of runs our forwards make where we then just hold on to the ball for no reason is baffling. And then our repeated tactic is to get the ball to the 18 yard box on one of the wings, and then slow down to the point where we end up playing our way back to Alisson half the time.
  20. Excellent result. Our super soft pen makes up for the super soft pen we conceded in Turkey. Far more solid looking. And while correlation doesn't mean causation, but we have looked far less vulnerable and unbalanced since benching Mo

  23. So Mo almost certainly would have been starting this one anyway. And probably the Brighton game too, before going off to Afcon. Whole thing really is a s***show. And we're a laughing stock now, even without Konate playing with clown shoes on.
