    Anyone else think that he may fill a Coutinho sized hole in the current team? Still early days, but he is now in the midfield three and setting up goals and being creative in a similar manner. Needs a few goals to get nearer Coutinho's level, but he seems to offer a lot of what Phil did.

    We were better than them again once Keita and Shaqiri came on. Not a very good performance by our midfielders until then. Midfield was more settled following the subs. 4/4 is outstanding when one considers the amount of players we had returning late to training due to the WC. The break will be of great benefit to us.

    Fowler's last ever goals for us came 6yrs later.

    He was always a c***. His interviews when still Porto manager a clear example. However, to the media and the section of the public wanting cheap entertainment he was something new to enjoy as he gave them the soundbites they wanted.

    The media he used to his advantage have inevitably grown tired of his antics. He came in initially as a breath of fresh air when the league was dominated by the Ferguson vs Wenger feud. However after he got stale pretty soon. The fact that he kept on winning regularly made him untouchable back then. However, ever since his exit from Madrid his standing has been diminished.

    Was gutted when he left and was hoping he'd re-join a year later. I think going to Newcastle was his biggest mistake. Cisse got over 20 goals for us in 05/06. Owen would have done excellently in that Benitez team.
