Missed a relatively simple header and held onto the ball far too long instead of playing Mane through. Thought he wasnt great myself -
Already getting tired of play slowing down as Milner has to check and get the ball onto his right foot
-
MIlner pushing too high up so Klavan cant use him and then Clyne gives it away cheaply. ffs
-
Coutinho bottling out of a 50/50 challenge with Walcott just before the penalty was also atrocious
-
I disagree on the hindsight aspect - such a big gap was left the keeper couldnt come and block it off without risking a goal direct at the near post. Can is coming in on the angle making the cutback hard (and really to who? there's players around Gameiro), Lovren is also coming in making the cutback hard and if Kolo stays in position the square ball is so much more difficult. As it was he stepped out and left a simple run, pass, and finish - it's all split second stuff but it's a bad error for him to have made. So often you see defenders recover the situation by getting into a good near post position and clearing the ball - he's done that himself in the EL this season which is why I find it so surprising Nah, the pass wouldve been straight at him or wouldve had to be closer to goal and given the keeper a good chance at grabbing it
-
He did make one massive rick on their first goal - he's perfectly positioned to block any cross across the face of the goal and for seemingly no reason just runs out of the way. He stands his ground and he easily clears it The chase back and tackle for the chance that came straight after was superb though

You mean fleece the people who can afford to be fleeced to allow the wiggle room for lower prices for those groups who you want to bring in but who currently might be excluded? Sounds like a good idea to me. Build it as big as possible. Who knows how long the tv money bubble will last - we dont want to be in a situation where that collapses and suddenly stadium revenues prevent us from truly competing at the top
-
Jordan's performances are so underrated in the press - really shown this season why Kenny splashed out £16m on him. I hope he works on his finishing and stays for many more years. What a player - we've sorely missed him

Thought even from 60 minutes we looked shattered. Midfield and fullbacks covering too much ground. Palace were always going to keep coming at us so I was surprised we kept the game so open instead of looking to hit them with SASAS on the break. Amazed at Moses instead of Agger at 3-2 as well. He's done a fantastic job this season Brendan but I think he's got it a bit wrong second half. Take the 3 points, make City beat Villa and West Ham, and realise that it was too big a goal difference to overcome in 2 games

Upgrading is one thing and moving on quite another. Henderson has quietly (in media terms) become a key player for us and we need someone who can step in when he is out. Lucas, while not having the passing range of Gerrard, can still fill the base of the diamond role
-
If we couldn't through normal channels then through schemes to get kids/disenfranchised locals in we certainly could. With TV revenues high it's easy to say that we no longer need to expand but that would ignore a good source of revenue long term, the opportunity to get more fans into the ground for an even better atmosphere, and a chance for tiered pricing to give opportunities to people who currently rarely get to games

How will we cope without Henderson's pressing ?

3 games - back for Newcastle -
How was that not a red? No defender on the cover there to stop a stop from how many yards out?? Ref bottled that red card
-
Alyson Rudd on the Times podcast claimed Webb made reasonable decisions and had an ok game in the Chelsea match. Laughable the lengths some go to so they don't criticise refs
-
It's hit the point where video tech is a must. Too many game changing decisions being missed and with so much money at stake, either through prize money/sponsorship or betting, the governing bodies should try to be as transparent as possible. There isn't even a genuine look at whether there is corruption or not - just a tacit acceptance that British = honest and uncorruptable
-
Skrtel is just "man marking" is the great English tradiion. Penalties are given for those about once every four years. Clearly fouls each and every time but such is the incompetence of refereeing
-
Expecting one of our players to make a run nearer to the goal? Bad cross/pass but horrific movement
-
Checking wikipedia - Masch scored 2, Momo scored 1, and Lucas has scored 6
-
What's mental is that that is deemed as bad as Williams' challenge. 2-2, s***
-
Ok ok, since 1999 then
-
I agree entirely about Mascherano but is he the exception or is he the rule? Is he a general principle to use when defining a club's youth development strategy? I don't think he is
-
Quick question - how many games has that player played in the top divisions (England, Spain, Germany, Italy) and Europe since 2000? No rush, take your time.

When you label a desire to produce young players who have a strong technical competence with the ball as snobbery then you have polarised the debate. How come you haven't taken the Wimbledon comment as shorthand for a combative nature or a strong will to win? In fact you now seem to be distancing yourself from the suggestion that Wimbledon had any admirable traits in one breath and in the next doing one of your frequent "what if by x he meant y" switches and then listing Wimbledon's key strengths as not ignoble. As someone else pointed out, Gerrard improved when he cut down on his tackles and was put in a position to use his other skills, his better skills, more frequently. I don't doubt that he might've seen himself as a tackler and shooter but that does not make it the right attitude for him to have had. Could he have been even better had he had a better education in his youth and played in a more advanced role earlier? It's a point to debate. What I don't think is for debate is that he's a great player because he can play, not because he can tackle. I covered Bale under the world's most expensive player. Being strong and physical is different from tackling. I know I strayed into mentioning the slide tackle which you didn't seem to like but at least it's within the scope of tackling. Bayern are aggressive and powerful but aside from their SF against Barca they dominated possession in all their CL games. Their game was fundamentally built on technique with good organisation and a strong team ethic Rooney works hard but he isnt a good tackler, mainly because too often his tackles come when he's frustrated. His work rate is very good, exception team player in that regard but he's not a good tackler

Who is the he? Shankly and/or Paisley for not wanting players to dive in? That's as a general principle rather than an explicit rule to never slide in. I state this because your gif makes me think you aren't smart enough to pick that up
