  1. I wish we had another Garcia, he looks the only one at the minute likely to open their defence
  2. excuse my french(!) but it was f***ing superb. Absolutely crunched him and got the ball A bright moment in what turned into a terrible day
  3. You'd be happy winning the Super Cup each year...it'd mean you'd already won the CL or UEFA Cup
  4. Dowie is definitely one of the smartest managers there is in England. He has a degree in aeronautical engineering ffs
  5. So we're more than a football club but we are tied to Anfield, even if it hurts us in the long term? No stadium could match last season v Chelsea? Try filling the ground with Bolton fans, Spurs, Arsenal etc and see how loud the noise is. It isn't the stadium that makes the noise, it's the fans and we're taking them with us (true Anfield retains the noise well). Anfield does not make us what we are. We do. The fans. The players. The staff. Anfield was made special because of us and not the other way round

    Cisse

The deepest Chelsea players are running towards the halfway line and Alonso has the ball. Do you a) Run straight away so you are ahead of the defenders before the ball is played b) Hold your run for the pass and gallop into the half acre of space that is available He is an idiot and a waste of £14m. So much for the "he'll do much better when played through the middle, esp with balls over the top for him to run onto" posts that have been wheeled out everytime he couldn't be bothered to try when playing wide right ARGH Think what Rafa could have done with that extra £14m
  7. Hence being missed. The forgotten bit was that I've rarely seen his name mentioned on here for ages. Keep up!
  8. I think if you enjoy football and ignore all the tribal stuff then it has to be Barca to win now that we are out. Fantastic skill, fantastic players, and fantastic club. Hope they don't spoil their shirt with sponsership next year
  9. I disagree. The change in CL format means that suddenly it becomes 3rd priority for so many clubs rather than 2nd which it was for so many years. Perhaps the extra TV coverage has something to do with that though. When I was a kid the FA Cup final was a football extravanganza (sp?) where there was a massive build up to the game. Nowadays I don't care if I miss it if we aren't in the final btw, I type out a massive post and all you can do is criticise??
  10. The rest of our season starts here. Still second place to play for, still the FA Cup (suddenly a valuable trophy), and discussion over who we keep/sell Squad low-down (my opinions) Reina - Fantastic keeper and position sorted, barring injury, for years Dudek - Thanks for Istanbul but bye bye Carson - Back-up Finnan - Solid right-back with a few years left in him (always older than I thought) Carra - Legend Hyypia - Getting on but tonight showed he's going to be difficult to replace. Legend Riise - Despite being sceptical he's shown himself to be our best left back this year Traore - Error prone. Can be great for 90 mins and then screw up in injury time. Hasn't learned to keep concentration for 90 minutes at this level. Get rid Warnock - Undecided. First 5 mins generally decides his game, either good or bad. Decent cover. Agger - Looks a good buy from the time I've seen him on the pitch (knowing nothing about him beforehand). One for next season more than this Kromkamp - Like Agger knew nothing about him but looks very promising. Will keep Finnan on his toes at very least. Didi - Wonderful backup player who you can count on in big games. Glad he'll be here next season Momo - Get well soon son Alonso - Masterclass in passing. Getting a better all-round game on him as well Stevie - Captain in name and performance. His head def looks sorted which is good to see Garcia - Ridiculous to sublime. Love him to bits but have a feeling he'll not be here next season Kewell - Finally we see the real Kewell again. Add a right winger and it'll improve him as defences are stretched even more Zenden - Being missed around now. The forgotten man at Liverpool? Cisse - Not good enough and on his way Crouch - Has ability, great hold up play but needs to work on his finishing. Fowler to show him?? Fowler - Chances not falling to him or being ruled offside when they do. Needs to show a bit more to get another contract Morientes - Bye, Adieu, Adios. Summer = gone. Personally I'm happy with the squad but we just need a few tweaks to be the team that Rafa wants. It isn't all doom and gloom as other posts will suggest but I'm sure it will be for a few days until the thoughts of the Arsenal game kick in. For tonight's crowd You made me proud to be a Liverpool fan with your noise level, singing, and support tonight. YNWA
  11. I have to say that I was utterly frustrated after the game yesterday but there is no point in complaining too loudly about it. At the start of the season we'd all have grabbed the position we are in and it's amazing the confidence we now have in the team that we're looking at the few points we have dropped with disappointment. Sure our strikers could be more clinical but I think that the overall team performance is being lost amidst the media frenzy about the strikers. We dominate teams now, completely dominate teams. Charlton hardly saw what our half was and next season when Rafa has another transfer window under his belt we'll be that step closer to being the team he wants us to be. As for the remainder of this season, someone is due for a hiding from us and I hope Benfica feel the Charlton backlash.
  12. If he has such a big heart then why the f*** does he not use it to pump oxygen around his body at a sufficient rate to allow him to chase after the bloody ball. Or to put defenders under pressure. Or to get up off the OT turf? Cool, maybe we can organise it so that the fans pick the team from now on. Subs done through the red button on Sky. Then again, perhaps not
  13. To me Cisse comes across as style over substance. He wants to come on with his tattoos and coloured hair, then run really fast, hit the ball really hard and be the match winner - the guy making the back page headlines. He doesn't seem to realise that he needs to work hard. Work hard for himself, hard for the team, hard for the manager. CONSISTENTLY. Day in day out. Did he spend too long in France where he perhaps got set in his ways? I dunno. *opens a can of worms* Pity we didn't sell Cisse instead of Baros in the summer. We'd have made more money and kept a better striker...
  14. Brilliant performance so far but the finishing could have killed it off by now. I can't see us dominating the second half as much as the first. Forest will probably nick one but we'll hang on... Come on you redmen!!
  15. I think he means that we got a decent footballer in exchange for Josemi. Harsh but fair
  16. Almost a third there for Charlton. f*** this is dire from us now. Confidence has totally drained out of us
  17. Why would Djimi be marking their right back? Just because it's on the left side of our defence doesn't automatically make it his man
  18. Away fans are really loud tonight. Good to hear lads
  19. Another free-kick wasted. To say it was telegraphed understates just how obvious it was that Cisse was going to hit it
  20. Cisse needs to learn a trick to go past someone, knock it past and sprint has been caught on
  21. Poor free-kick. Great delivery but wasted because no-one makes a run towards goal
  22. How did you think he did? Personally, I thought he had yet another poor game. Got the red card right but then he seemed to decide that he had to even it up by not awarding us a clear penalty for a push in the back. I hate to see this guy in charge of our games Was the tackle on LG as he ran into the box a foul? I didnt think the defender touched the ball
  23. So not c***ery then, aside from scoring in a net that was bigger than the official rules...
  24. I noticed that Martin Tyler said during the second half that ManU had the pitch watered at HT to make it easier to play. He said that only the half that we would be playing second half was watered though. At 0-0 (and my ManU supporting mate can testify), I was irate. This has nothing to do with the result and everything to do with fair play. What utter, utter c***s. That is the lowest of the low imo. f***ing cheating. As much as I hate Manu I never thought them capable of such lowlife, Bolton-esque c***ery as that. Shows exactly how far we've come tbh
