It would be very disappointing if the club had failed to consult with the families over the issue. I think the crest/top would look even better with the flames as part of it and then there's the important statement of identity and solidarity that it represents. I'd hope that shifting the flames to the rear of the shirt doesn't signal some kind of rebranding that seeks to dilute that in any way.

I saw a mock-up of the other kits on empireofthekop, away kit was black with red trim, looked good. 3rd kit was purplish (!) with white sleeves and yellow trim, looked yech!

True, but IF the LFC job were to come up anytime soon FSG might be thinking "we tried one popular, trophy-winning ex-manager already and it didn't pan out as we wanted, why should we take a punt on another". It is kinda odd that he has retained his home base here and hasn't managed anyone since the Inter sacking. He must have had enquiries/offers in meantime from good profile clubs. Is he not going stir crazy at this stage wanting to get back into the trenches?

That would surely depend on whether the directors he had problems with last time are still there. After his experiences there before and then with H&G&Purslow in the latter stages of his time here I'd guess he is gonna do his utmost to ensure that in his next gig he can rely on full backing of board and is given the time/support to implement his vision. That's why I'd be surprised to see him go to Madrid despite his personal links with the club, he'd have no guarantee of stability there at all.

Have seen a few "great LFC cup games" and "great Gerrard games" type programmes on the channel and whenever the West Ham final comes up they do a mix of still photos and radio commentary. What the feck is that about?

Seeing Skrtl wear the armband v Blackburn got me thinking of how many of the present squad have captained the team at one point or another. There's Stevie, Carra, Pepe, Lucas ( I think Lucas has captained us in a competitive match, I know he's done a few friendlies?). Has Dirk? Anyone else who might have got the armband after designated captain was subbed or sent off?
