Sad news. RIP That's a funny pic of the team all having bottles of milk after winning the FA Cup, and notice Strong has his pinta in one hand and a fag in the other!
Would definitely be into getting this. I remember him doing one of those "Sixty Minutes With.." interviews on lfc.tv and he was refreshingly candid in that. The book seems to be in the same vein, looks like it would be a very good read. Loved his digs at Chelsea fans and Shearer quoted above too! Has he announced if he is going to play on next year?
] Many thanks for sharing it there, wasn't able to catch the programme on telly last night. Strong stuff. As others have said, shame the programme let the FA off the hook, they merited a thorough hauling over the coals and it would have been interesting to see a few of their stuffed shirts squirming before the questions he was lobbing at the cops involved.
Allen scored highly in the MOTM polls in his first couple months, then dropped off a cliff form-wise. I'd be in the glass half-full lobby on his status.
Interesting, and in all the deluge of commentary and "analysis" of the Suarez bite I didn't see any pundit picking up on this angle -not that it justifies the act but certainly puts it in a more nuanced context than the pantomime villainy favoured by headline writers/tv producers.
When Fulham got in as a Fair Play entrant in 2010, they started off in the 3rd qualifying round. I wonder would that be the same for us? The third qualifying round dates are August 1st & 8th.
Those quotes are taken from an interview/press conference Rodgers gave before the Reading game, they might not reflect his/the club's current thinking on the matter.
Drat!!! Although, having looked up UEFA's pesky "fair play league" rankings they only seem to cover games up to the end of December, gawd knows what the actual standings might be now. Or have you seen a more recently-compiled table?
As I understand it, the different leagues' rankings are purely based on how well their clubs have done in Champions & Europa Leagues not on all that fair play flim-flam
I was looking at the league rankings today and England are in the top three along with Spain and Germany. Portugal are some way back so I don't think they can make up the gap even if Benfica were to win the Europa League. Given Brendan's comments though, is it at all possible we would decline to take up a place in the competition if we were to qualify via the Fair Play route? Or are clubs even allowed to do that?
The theme is Great Britons. The other 9 people in the series are Vivien Leigh, Richard Dimbleby, Peter Cushing, Norman Parkinson, Mary Leakey, John Archer, Elizabeth David, Benjamin Britten and David Lloyd George.
