I don't think Setanta have any "first choice" games as part of the packages they've won. Whilst I'm sure we the consumers will end up paying more it is worth remembering that the clubs will be getting significantly more money from this deal than the current deal.

Aye Tevez is a cracking player. Reminds me a lot of Rooney to be fair - quite short but very stocky No 10 sort of player.

Not sure if this counts but I really rate Kevin Doyle at Reading - think he's 20 and they paid about £70k for him last year. Reminds me of a young Sheringham.

I've seen the Mancs linked with Diarra and Riquelme (spelling?) recently and I could really see both going there if true because they're both playing for much smaller clubs and could both be bought within Utd's budget (say £12-15m each). They could be decent replacements for Keane and Scholes which is just what Utd need

I know you'll all say Lyon's 5th title and Villareal in the CL semi's but I just have a hunch the links could well be true about these 2 and that they'd both go there. I'm not bothered from our perspective as we don't need either type of player but they could be decent replacements for Keane and Scholes which is just what Utd need.

and that clause is alledgely based around Newcastles (non) qualification for Europe with a figure of £12m being most commonly mooted. You might ask why on Earth Newcastle would have agreed to this.....you'd have to consider that alongside the question of why did they bid more than double the amount that their rivals bid? Er Harewood is utter pants, I mean really, absolutely, feckin crap and Nolan is a central midfielder?!?

That's exactly what I was going to post. Great that they were being nice about us but they wre wrong - we were crap with Benfica being slighty more crap for all but about 15 mins of the game. If we're going to play that system then we have to have strikers who can hold the ball up and we had ours sat on the bench.

Er I think he meant that he nearly joined Spurs when he left us but that the transfer "didn't work out" and he ended up at Charlton instead.

Since we got Sky covering so much more of the game there have only been a handful of youngsters that I've seen at 15 that were head and shoulders above everyone else - Giggs, Owen, Cole, Rooney and Walcott. I think Cole is only now starting to find his feet but is still an England regular and the others are arguably the best British players in their positions of their generation. There are never any guarantees but at the age of 16 Walcott looks as good as any of them did and leagues above his peers.

I think it must be the Christmas booze but some of the comments on here are just embarrassing. I think Kewell played pretty well. Should have done better with some crosses that just ended up hitting the fb but some of his other crosses and passes were fantastic. To me he reeks of quality, his touch and awareness are there he just needs another half a yard of pace and some more confidence. Why the feck would we sell him for a couple of mill? To save on his £60k wages????? How much would it cost to bring in a better player - £5m? £8m? £10m? and proven in the Premiership ideally... How much would we pay them a week? £30k? £40k? someone please tell me why on earth we would do that? He may not be the player he was at Leeds but he's a bloody decent player at the very least.
