I love Sami but a Neill - Hyypia swap would do for me, Neill as cover for Carra/Agger/Finnan.

Current form that has seen us win 1 away game and draw the other against a side that had previously won 44 of 51 home games. I can't see how we'd stand a chance I reckon it would be a tough game but Rafa is a genius in Europe so there is no reason why we couldn't get through.

The thing is he was obviously 'bought' as a CM who can cover Kewell. Which he did a fair bit of last year. Now Rafa has brought in the next generation LM there is no need for Zenden to play there. Steven Gerrard is clearly seen as 'cover' for CM and our first choice RM so Zenden came in for Sissoko. I think the Arsenal game showed that when Alonso is sitting so deep we really need a ball winner in the centre and Zenden isn't that. Moving Gerrard central and bringing in Pennant is an option but if Pennant and Gonzales don't shine in the next few games then what does Rafa try next. For me Zenden should play CM at home when Agger starts and Gerrard the rest of the time

IMO you haven't watched Silvestre play LB lately. Heinze is one of the best left backs in the World (WHEN FIT) in the same way that Kewell is one of the best LM in the World. I've always thought Evra was top drawer and he is now starting to show it. Personally I'd take Riise over all 3 because a) he's ours b) he scores goals c) he's reliable A defender who spends most of the time injured can't be on the same wavelength as his teammates.

You need to extract your head from your a*** then. We are phenomenal at home, only Chelsea have beaten us at home in the last 15 months. We are the worst away side in the league and yet ..... we are 4pts behind a CL spot. We have played all the top teams away from home and our bogey team. We will be 4th by Xmas and wont be out of the top 4 for the rest of the season.

Just to add, I'd forgotten how f***ing good Gallas is, him and Toure is probably second only to a Terry Carvalho partnership. Steal of the century getting him and money for Cole !!!!! Especially as they have Clichy already !!!

I disagree, he had all of the summer off he should be raring to go. We need one experienced head in the back 4. A Peltier Palletta Agger Warnock back 4 will be all over the shop.

I'd play Finnan, Sissoko and Kuyt for Peltier, Guthrie and Lingfield. Have the young lads on the bench by all means but we could really do with a cup run at the moment and Reading are no mugs

The more I think about the more I think we are suffering not from the World Cup but from our early European Campaign. Look at the players who are out of sorts. They are the ones who shone in Istanbul and the ones who played in the early rounds last season, Gerrard, Alonso, Sami, JAR, Carra and little Luis have played a hell of a lot of footy in the last 18 months. I reckon we are suffering now because of that. On the positive side, the rotation that is the press weapon of choice against Rafa will once again be our saviour as come Feb, when the players who have played week in week out start to tire, our squad will still be fresh and will go on a run that will guarantee us a place in the CL league next season. The league is gone but we still have a 6th European Cup to be won. Next season, when the players have a proper summer off we really will start to reap the benefit of rotation.
