I think he is spot on and I think we are just as guilty of it as any other club http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...utd/5348112.stm

I hate all cheating in the game I wish it was referreed like rugby. The cheating that causes the most damage though is diving for penalties, it gets players red cards and wins matches. That's why I feel so strongly about it. Claiming a corner/throw in when you know it's come off you is just part of professional sport in my view. Rarely can you say 'that throw in cost us the game'

I hate diving and play acting IMO it's killing the game. The Portugal v Holland World Cup game was a disgrace and it's happening more and more to the point where it's now acceptable to 'wait for the contact' and go down. Probably should have put this in the rant room as it's mostly hot air but watching that cheating c*** Van Persie getting away with it yet again and his myopic manager backing him up made my blood boil.

I disagree with this, he knocked the ball past the keeper and ran straight where the keeper was coming out, the keeper did everything he could to avoid the player but brushed against him and Giggs collapsed to the floor. Poetic justice him injuring himself doing it IMO. Gerrard, Bellamy, Garcia, Crouch all dive and all foul BUT they didin't play last night when I watched the two instances of cheating that led me to start this thread. I want ALL players that go down for innocuous challenges booked. Where do you draw the line, err on the side of booking the cheating get. I certainly wouldn't have started it in this forum Wenger takes biscuit. It was harsh the keeper getting sent off. Harsh, if your player wasn't a cheating t*** he wouldn't have got sent off !!!!

maybe i got a little bit ahead of myself

Thats irrelevant, the points needed to win the league were 8pts less than Chelsea achieved, therefore they could have lost 7 games and won the league. -
b******s, who to ?

It's a f***ing disgrace and needs stamping down on. As long as refs award pens for minimal contact players will keep diving. Both Van Persie and Giggs should have been booked yesterday.

Ok, but they still won the league with 5 losses, the fact that they did more than enough to win the league and then lost twice doesn't detract from the bare facts that a team that loses 5 games and draws 4 can win the league by 9 pts thus disproving your point. Edit : Not your point apparently but reniformis, however you argued it as though it was your point hence my mistake -

Chelsea lost 5 games last year and they too have already lost one game this year .... -

It would be cool if they let season ticket holders purchase their own seat. I'd buy my seat as a memento.

LOL, as far as I'm aware Hargreaves plays for Bayern Munich
-
Not good enough to justify that role. I'd play both Carrick and Hargreaves when Rooney comes back.

I just noticed the figure. £60m being invested from outside sources for the whole regeneration of the Anfield area. No wonder we were fighting tooth and nail and jumping through hoops to satisfy the NWDA etc. I have to congratulate Rick Parry on a job well done here. So many people tried to stop this going ahead but his (and the boards) persistance and unwilingness to contemplate a groundshare has made this happen.

He created the goal when he swapped sides with Pennant and was playing RM he did crop up at the back post a couple of time granted. Still think it is far too hasty to ditch Kewell because we have Pennant and Garcia who CAN play LM along with Aurelio and Gonzales. Surely the point of building this squad is so Pennant and Garcia don't have to play out of position ? Garcia should be RM or behind the striker he's rubbish at LM.
-
Did you watch last Sautrday's game, Garcia was awful at LM.

Yes I would if the right club came in, otherwise I'd see my deal out and get myself a deal next year. The money he has earned is irrelevent, he is owed 1 year at £xK per week by LFC. If he leaves the club he would expect to get paid that anyway if he doesn't ask for a transfer. So why would he jeopardise all that for a pay cut at a club where he doesn't really want to be ?
-
Your a better man than me than because given the short career a footballer has there is NO WAY I would give up that sort of money. In your opinion he has slothed away the last two years, he wants to play at the top level and isn't quite good enough, he gets paid mega bucks, why should he take an enormous pay cut for the benefit of LFC. He went on loan, thus reducing the amount that LFC had to pay. He is available for selection, whenever I have seen him play he always gave 100%, he turns up for the reserve games and competes. Why does he have to sacrifice his earnings because we aren't happy that he was signed to a big contract. The only people you can blame are the manager and the board, the player has no case to answer.
-
What about a 75-80% cut. No team that is going to employ Diao will pay him more than £10K it's stupid money for a player who has been in the wilderness so long. Does he still have 3 years left on his contract. Houllier was indeed a fool then if he gave him a 6yr deal. If you are talking about the two years past he went on loan with a view to a permanent move twice. He just didn't convince or got injured. One year out of your career for £1.5m, I don't care how rich he is he'd be mad to move for anything less than 60% of his curent salary as opposed to waiting for a Bosman.
-
Apart from going out on loan to both Portsmouth and Birmingham of course, where he was playing before he got a serious injury which meant they didn't progress the deal. He wants to play football, he is on the deal of his life. Would you throw away £1.5m under any circumstances ? I've got a lot of respect for players who take a pay cut or refuse a pay increase to move (Bellamy for example) but Diao would be an idiot if he left Liverpool now for less money. He can get paid this year and be a free agent in the summer. Who, in his position, wouldn't do that ?
-
Ah, I do believe you are right. I think it still serves to make my point though, what a decision for the manager !!!!
