cliff p Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...rem/7232390.stm mmmmm so when we start losing home games to the usa or were ever do we a reduction in our season ticket prices ??
CarraLegend Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 What a f***ing awful idea, the game is just getting worse and worse.
Bailo Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Most inevitable thing since Torres got injured last night. Can't complain really, as I went to the NFL game.
Hassony Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 if they want to take games abroad they can do the charity shield, messing about with the league is just crazy
Cunny Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 mmmmm so when we start losing home games to the usa or were ever do we a reduction in our season ticket prices ?? ha ha ha nice one
theredfella Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Tis a ridiculous idea. Why not go the full NFL hog and get cheerleaders, ad breaks every two minutes etc. Plus what about the season ticket/fancard holders? Do they get free travel to the venue? I honestly don't see who this benefits apart from those who may not get the chance to see their team in the flesh. Admirable sentiment but their wishes would then be of more paramount importance than any club's objections or problems of travelling potentially halfway around the world - a dangerous precedent to set IMO. As usual, it's all about more money at the expense of a proper spectacle - a rare sight at the match these days....
Woodsyla Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Plus what about the season ticket/fancard holders? Do they get free travel to the venue? It's one extra fixture a season. There is no home team or away team just two teams. I'd imagine the tickets sold wouldn't require a fancard. ST holders would still get their 19 games.
matty Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Live from Azerbaijan, it's Middlesbrough v Birmngham City! I can imagine the crowds.
Hassony Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Live from Azerbaijan, it's Middlesbrough v Birmngham City! I can imagine the crowds. Boro have big support in Azerbaijan it seems
Gilps Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 It is understood the additional fixtures could be determined by a draw but that the top-five teams could be seeded to avoid playing each other. Points from those extra games would count towards the final league table. Well, that doesn't undermine the principle of the league being decided by everyone playing the same fixtures, home and away, does it?
£440,000 Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 What a f***ing awful idea, the game is just getting worse and worse. Indeed. This is a terrible idea. It's getting harder and harder to care about the game.
Hassony Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Well, that doesn't undermine the principle of the league being decided by everyone playing the same fixtures, home and away, does it? Imagine United getting Derby and we getting Everton, how is that fair?
_00_deathscar Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Imagine United getting Derby and we getting Everton, how is that fair? Or worse - United getting Everton and us getting Derby!
Guest Kaizer Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 (edited) If this stupid idea ever will become reality it should be played like this 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 17-18, 19-20 etc. I presume the matches are going to be played at the same date, like a bonus match in the middle of the season or something. The cities of the world would certainly be fighting over the rights to hold those two.
Guest Kaizer Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 (edited) The cities of the world would certainly be fighting over the rights to hold those two. To be honest, I dont think the city`s around the world would fight it out for any of the games not involving us, the mancs or Arsenal, Chelsea might be able to attract a decent crowd but not much more. Would I attend to a match between Man City - Newcastle in my city if the tickets was not really cheap or free? Probably not. Edited February 7, 2008 by Kaizer

I'd imagine the tickets sold wouldn't require a fancard. ST holders would still get their 19 games. But does the conditions of the ST state that they get nineteen league games a season or does it say all league games? If not, do they get priority on the tickets sold? Or is their support effectively told, "You're not needed for this game thanks"
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Indeed. This is a terrible idea. It's getting harder and harder to care about the game.indeed - this kind of thing could be the death-knell for real fans. Not that the authoroties care. And when football has a recession? They'll be begging for us to come back. The idiots really believe that this expansion - in every sense - can continue ad infinitum
John am Rhein Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 And when football has a recession? They'll be begging for us to come back. And we'll give them what they deserve. Vicious hatred.
Rimbeux Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 indeed - this kind of thing could be the death-knell for real fans. Not that the authoroties care. And when football has a recession? They'll be begging for us to come back. The idiots really believe that this expansion - in every sense - can continue ad infinitum Well there some dangerous c**** involved now who are starting to see the money to be creamed off the top, projected sales growth figures, individual rights and will whore the game into meaningless entertainment if they are not stopped, if they can be.
Dmitch Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Another s*** idea again money driven and all about greed no matter how they try to hide it............. STUPID s*** IDEA

They'll be begging for us to come back. The idiots really believe that this expansion - in every sense - can continue ad infinitum I think competing for and winning things has no become less important than the money to be gained whilst trying (or appearing to try) to do so.
Rich Gobey Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Maybe they could play some of the matches in the West Country.
