It's not really about tonight but in general. Again we played very very well at times and never really looked under pressure. We wasted all our free kicks and corners and created very little while bossing the middle of the park for long periods although the second half was shared with them looking more and more dangerous.

 

I still think we'll do them at home but it was a poor goal to conceed.

That was absolute rubbish tonight. So poor from us. And you'll struggle to find a worse individual performance this week than that of Garcia's.

 

Think we'll do them at Anfield, but that was poor. Had a bad feeling from the kick off.

I didn't think we were that bad! Just didn't have an ideas for some reason but we didn't play terribly.

No complaints of the result, that was a poor performance. Benfica were there for the taking tonight and we blew it. Our forward play was awful and quite frankly its the defence that is carrying this team at the moment.

As a consequence its magnifying the slip ups at set pieces because on the whole the defence has played well all season. Rafa is going to be livid. Our strikerforce is totally toothless, Benfica are an average team, let them off the hook.

Additionally can't believe how many times we gave away the ball going forward.....Garcia and Kewell totally at guilt there.

yeah, i wasnt too cocky myself i must admit

 

but to say we cant defend set pieces is utter rubbish, we defended all their previous corners, free kicks with no hassle, the lads just went to sleep unfortunatly,

 

i was wondering about the striking problem through the game though, im beginning to think our attackers are being asked to do too much donkey work, i mean, we dont ask the defender to go and score goals, but we`re nearly expecting our forward to get the ball, create a chance, then score it, because their defiantly not getting the neccesary support from the midfield

Sorry but I must have missed the "anything obvious cannot be posted on the forum" rule. Whats the problem with saying what I said? We have 3 things to tweak and were sorted.

I thought we were terrible. Its been said before but the complete lack of cutting edge from our forwards was frightening. And the two wide men were poor - esp LG.

 

Such a frustrating game. Could just tell we werent gonna score and concede a dicky goal.
