Cisse yesterday

Right, am I delusional in thinking he was quite decent yesterday ? Whipped in quite a few decent crosses. Passed the ball pretty nicely like the pass to Mori. Is there hope in him ?

I'm getting obsessed about the guy. Bugs me enormously to see us pay 14 million for a player and get so little. It's also frustraiting to see at times something in him.

He should be given a run in the centre. Crouch and Morientes aren't playing too well so give Cisse a chance. Played well yesterday to say it's not his natural position.

Get Kewell and Gerrard playing low crosses, through balls to him and see if he can prove us wrong.

I thought he had a decent game, no doubt go unnoticed by the "Cisse is s****" brigade.

I think the time has come for him to be given a run up front to see what he can do, whilst Rafa gives Crouch a rest, and while he's at it Rafa could also give Didi a few games while Momo is put on the bench. Didi can then look after the defensive responsibilities and give Alonso the chance to move forward a bit more.

Alonso was our best player.

Cisse did well though.

Though Cisse did have a really good game,

I thought Kewell was our best player last night.

Alonso couldn't really get into the game I thought and played far too many wayward balls.

The one quality ball I remember was allowed to bounce harmlessly out for a goal kick.

He was ok. He put in the same 5/10 performance that the others put in (apart from Kewell, who shaded a 6) - just looked good because he generally puts in a 3/10 performance.

I thought the same. He looked good last night only relative to his usual performances. But objectively, in isolation, he was just okay.

I thought he was just OK. He did SOME useful stuff down the right but also did a few 'knock it past the player and then make sure I'm 2nd to the ball' dribbles which were a waste of time, and his crosses were awful.

Kewell was our best player in a team of mundane performances.

Aldo said yesterday, all his best performances have been on the right but only if he can be bothered.

Can I just say at this point that Aldo was in front of me in the bogs at half time, but because I was in the Charlton end and they're dead strict on kicking out fans from away teams I had to bite my lip even though I wanted to say hello as he left!! :(

Guest neuklon

Played fairly well and at the moment Crouch and Moro look to be running on empty. Can't see Rafa pitching Cisse and Fowler together tho.

If Cisse had a great game on the right and Kewell has a great game on the left, and Xabi had a great game in the middle, HTF did we manage only 1/2 goalscoring chances in 90 minutes?

Because Morientes and Crouch are s***?

Probably because Nando and Crouch hardly ever take a gamble on a ball into the box. The usually both just stand around the 18 yard box and very rarely actually attack a ball in the 6 yard box. Half the time Nando is playing in midfield, so even if crouch does win a knock-on Nando is rarely there to win the second ball.

IMHO we should never play Nando and Crouch together as they are both too static, don't have pace and neither seem to have that 'finisher' instinct. It should be either Nando or Crouch with either Folwer or Cisse.

The other problem is that we missed Gerrard in the middle and have done in quite a few games recently. Alonso as good as he is will not score many goals from open play because he doesn't make runs from deep, he prefers to sit deep and distribute the ball. Momo as much as he runs around and nobody can fault his work ethic again he isn't a player who will get you 8 or 10 goals running from midfield!

That's why we HAD to buy someone for RM as playing Gerrard there is a wastem no matter how good he is, as he should always play CM attacking the box. It's a waste.
