What is the secret with them? They seem to have a never ending conveyor belt of great young players who they either find, develop or persuade to sign.

Dembele

Pulisic

Sancho

Haaland

Bellingham may be the latest one and I’m sure I’ve forgotten about others. What gives?

Maybe if they keep some of these players rather than selling them they will give Bayern more of a challenge

The young 17 years old American lad they have now is a bit special as well isn't he?

It's kind of become their brand in the same way as Porto became a place for South American players to come to Europe , develop and then move on to a bigger club 10/15 years ago. Players know they'll get a good chance at regular football, get to play in the CL, be well coached, play attacking technical football and they know Dortmund will eventually let them leave for a bigger club if they come in for them. I think Wolves are kind of trying to adopt that model in England.

Claudio Reyna’s son. Yep, he’s another one.

Not really much of a secret. They play attacking football and are generally easy on the eye, chance to fight for the Bundesliga (though they won't win it) and at the latter stages of some competition on Europe usually, and generally considered a biggish club with a great stadium and fans.

Basically, as a young player, it's a great place to put yourself in the shop window for an even bigger club. And when the time comes, Dortmund won't kick up a huge fuss - they'll let you leave for a price.

In short, great place to be from your late teens (or earlier) through to your early to mid 20s before you start hitting your peak.
