Can't decide if this injury is a terrible thing or something that cements the futures of certain midfielders over the next month or so.

It's gutting Sturridge is out also as I actually fancy Allen Lucas and Henderson in a 3. Full of energy.

................Back four

.......Henderson...Lucas

...................Allen

xxxxxx.................Courtinho

................Luis

How confident are we that the midfield 3 we have can carry us through some tough games without Gerrard if he has done his hamstring?

Personally I think we#ll be ok and players will step up. We might even find the future of our midfield due to necessity.

Anyone?

henderson lucas allen in a 3, suarez, coutinho someone else ahead of them and hope no one gets injured. 4 midfielders for 3 positions is madness

agree

we should be ok with that, as long as the other forward works like a dog to get the ball and then does something good when he gets it

Henderson behind Allen makes no sense.

Well I'm happy for Rodgers to put Henderson and Allen wherever he sees fit. Henderson should be up top but I'd actually fancy Allen in front of goal despite his everton miss over Henderson. I guess they could swap about.

Main thing is others have stepped up when gerrard has been out before. Same with the team last season when Luis was out. We actually played as a team more. Keep Sakho in defense and maybe Sterling can kick off again after a good game today, same with Allen.

We looked clueless without gerraf today b4 the 3-1 goal. Spurs away with him and Stu missing will be impossible, its always our worst game anyhow

It only goes to show that we needed another midfielder in the summer, and need one now.

We got one, question is if he's the right one for now. Probably an obvious answer, granted

don't think that had anything to do with gerrard not being on the pitch, rather a mental hit after battering west ham then suddenly almost throwing the game away. goals change games

Nah. That was just usual defensive collective brain farting.

Impossible???

Even with Gerrard that was just a typical wobble when you're bossing the game and in cruse control and then concede.

We have Luis up top. Nothing is impossible with a player like him. They just fluked a win against Sunderland.

We'll be well up for that game. If I were Spurs I'd be scared as their defense is as poor as ours but we have Suarez.

Inevitable injury? We had a right go at England for playing him in the red zone. Could he have come off earlier on Wed and prevented this? He doesn't have to finish every game

Henderson behind Allen makes no sense.

them three are all half backs

it's up to them to manage their positions, bearing in mind that the object is to stop their free-running midfielders and then give them plenty to think about when we have the ball, by:

a) keeping it at will

b) suddenly releasing our explosive forward players, who will then run the ball in to their net 7 or 8 times over the course of the three games, maybe more than 8, say 11

I totally agree. Don't know why him and Luis were not pulled at half time or on 60 mins.

Henderson is much better attacking space then working in the tight confines of midfield. Allen is vastly superior in midfield.

lol

Anyway, we're now in the position we could have easily avoided with better management of Gerrard and signing a midfielder in the summer.

I'd go Lucas, Allen and Henderson with Alberto coming in for Lucas in the easier home fixtures.. At least Allen has been given games recently and had time to find form.

lol

Its chalk and cheese when they play centre mid.

Henderson's future is out wide although he will need to add goals if he isn't to become a utility player for the squad.

Alberto has hardly played top level football, be a big step up to be starting premier league matches after a handful of 10 main cameos.

i thought alberto was a nr.10 (possbile cover for coutinho) rather than a defensive midfielder (possible cover for lucas)

They're both very good players. I don't see the need to repeatedly criticise one to praise the other. And " vastly superior " is a ridiculous statement.

This is why you rest someone like Gerrard though. Why they shouldnt start every game.

What about something like this. Get Courtinho in the middle to add some creative spark to the forwards.Play Aspas where he's comfortable and see what happens.

I thought Allen, Hendo and Lucas looked fine together and it was the own goal which gave us the jitters, not Gerrard going off. We'll be ok against Spurs.

Agree with Fred regarding Allen, he has a much better footballing brain than Henderson. Henderson has plenty to contribute though.

----Henderson-----Allen----

with Sterling, Alberto and Coutinho infront of them is what i meant.

i like the look of that. means we can cope with an injury to lucas, henderson or allen as well.
