Rory Fitzgerald Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 (edited) Need to win to go through + Suarez suspended for West Ham then he needs to go on holiday to Italy during the week. A balance between first-teamers and ressies could be as follows; Reina Wisdom Skrtel Carra Enrique Henderson Allen Sahin Shelvey Suarez (Assaidi/Downing) Agger is the more injury prone between him and SkrtelLucas surely cant travel, can he ?Johnson is a key player this seasonGerrard needs less games not moreSterling needs to be managed Edited December 1, 2012 by Rory Fitzgerald
CarraLegend Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 (edited) Tough one for the manager. West Ham is huge but so is this. At least theres no decision over Suarez and I cant see anything other than a full reserve team from Udinese. Offer them a few hundred k and we'll fix it. Edited December 1, 2012 by CarraLegend
RafaShanks Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 We can't afford to feck this up. Start with a full strength team and then take players off if necessary depending on the score/other game. We just need to match Young Boys result.
Epic Swindle Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Rather beat West Ham, t*** of a place to go. JonesFlannagan Wisdom Carra EnriqueHendo Sahin Allen SusoShelveySuarez
Sion Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 (edited) They haven't won in 7Hopefully they'll not even try, and focus on Serie A instead Edited December 1, 2012 by Sion

Rory Fitzgerald Posted December 1, 2012 Author Posted December 1, 2012 Udinese stuck out a full team against us at Anfield, my worry is that they will do the same. Anyway, irrespective of what team they put out and irrespective of what team we put out - if we win, it'll be the biggest win of the season. Wow.
Davvo Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 We just need to match Young Boys result. Unless they lose, in which case we'd be out.

They werent eliminated from the competition at that stage, though.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted December 1, 2012 Author Posted December 1, 2012 (edited) They werent eliminated from the competition at that stage, though. True - and whilst I wont claim this as my information - didnt they play the back-to-back games with Young Boys with the 2nd string ? If not then my bad but that is my understanding. DJS Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 I dont know to be honest. If they did play a 2nd string both times vs YB, i really dont see why they'd recall their first teamers just for a game against us which has no bearing on their Europa situation whatsoever. Especially when they have been struggling quite a bit in Serie A lately.

Especially when they have been struggling quite a bit in Serie A lately. I dont know either but something sticks in my mind that they sent their main team to Anfield given the occassion - if true - and now at home, will they send them out again in front of their own crowd ? In any event, a win there would be our most significant of the season.

It is tue but it was more a question of their main players telling the manager they would not be denied the opportunity of playing in one of the great cathedrals of world football.
doug_mac Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 play a full team this competition hots up in the new year and we need to be there i would play the same team as yesterday or if lucas is not up to a full match play henderson instead
Earl Hafler Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Pick one of the young strikers who's scored recently and start him alongside Suarez. We might need a goal from the bench against West Ham to bag three points.
Conrad Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 i'd leave gerrard, lucas, agger and johnson at home, otherwise full strength reina wisdom-carragher-skertl-enrique allen-henderson sterling-sahin-downing suarez
Nerik Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 First win in 8 games for them yesterday. 4-1 home to Cagliari. Similar league run to ours and they need to make up ground if they want to play European footy next year, so I would not be surprised if they field a weakened team ahead of their visit to Sampdoria next Monday.
DJS Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 We're odds-on favourites to win this game at 17/20. Bit strange. I can understand a shorter price than normal, given the circumstances. But odds-on seems a bit much.
Earl Hafler Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Think we're often a false price due to the bookies knowing we're loyal fans who like a bet

Jiggy Hates Jazz Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 Need to win to go through + Suarez suspended for West Ham then he needs to go on holiday to Italy during the week. Nowhere near Turin though...
Rory Fitzgerald Posted December 5, 2012 Author Posted December 5, 2012 Agger, Lucas and Gerrard are the only big names not to travel. Agger is being 'managed' as he has played the most successive league games (13) in his 7 years at the club. What number is more shocking, 13 consecutive games or the fact baby-face has been here 7 years !!! Reina Johnson Skrtel Coates Enrique Henderson Allen Sahin Shelvey Suarez (Cole/Assaidi/Downing)
Knox_Harrington Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Johnson - Skrtel - Carra - Downing------------ Sahin ----------------------- Hendo -- Allen -------------- Suso -- Suarez -- Enrique ---
