David Hodgson Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 These quotes fom an Italian radio interview are doing the rounds. Hope its true. Won't be (sigh). Argentine agent Jose Alberti says Napoli star Ezequiel Lavezzi could already be a Liverpool player. And he reveals Liverpool remain keen on the attacking midfielder. "Two years ago," said Alberti, "I oversaw a meeting between the leaders of Liverpool and Napoli. We discussed a possible deal to bring Lavezzi to England. "Nothing happened, but I know specifically that the English club still has great interest in the player, especially after the performance of this season. "I am of the opinion that if they fail to increase the contract of El Pocho, after this season we could see him go."
Minder78 Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 The last paragraph tells you all you need to know.
Molby Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 I watched Napoli's game at Fiorentina last night I won't tell you how good he was or that he scored his goal with aplomb and was involved in almost everything good that Napoli did as it would make people wistful and sad if we get him, we're getting a natural replacement for Kuyt. Hard working, either side of the central striker and with skill and pace and goals
David Hodgson Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 More quotes : In an interview with Radio CalcioMercato last week, Alberti - who is often mistaken to be Lavezzi's Agent - said: "Ezequiel Lavezzi will definitely will leave Naples at the end of the season, but he will not go to Italy; He will move to England and sign for Liverpool". That is quite an emphatic claim, but given Alberti's contacts in the football world, it's conceivable that he has some inside info on the issue. He also claimed that Manchester City failed with a recent bid to sign the striker: "Two years ago Manchester City made an offer for him but it was not enough". It's unclear whether Alberti meant the transfer fee or the salary figure wasn't enough, but based on his next comments, it's probable that the salary City offered wasn't enough for Lavezzi: "When Lavezzi discovers that Cambiasso and other players earn much more of him, it is normal to want a change. He's doing very well for Napoli, but he is 27 years old and it is time for a change" Liverpool's interest in Lavezzi is well documented. In 2009, Rafa Benitez tried to sign the Argentinean as a striker partner for Fernando Torres, and this was confirmed by Alejandro Mazzoni, Lavezzi's Agent, who told The Telegraph: "I reiterate that a Fifa agent presented Napoli with an offer from Liverpool for Lavezzi. This was a formal procedure as the player cannot be contacted directly because he is under contract with Napoli" I watched Napoli's game at Fiorentina last night I won't tell you how good he was or that he scored his goal with aplomb and was involved in almost everything good that Napoli did as it would make people wistful and sad if we get him, we're getting a natural replacement for Kuyt. Hard working, either side of the central striker and with skill and pace and goals I'm now 100% convinced we're signing him. This will be who these mystery Napoli reps Danny ear wigged in Il Forno were on about. Not Cavani, but Lavezzi. Danny's Italian isn't that good he thought they were just ordering the coffee when they mentioned him.

David Hodgson Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 Is this the new transfer thread? No ! It's the 'welcome to Liverpool Lavezzi !' thread. So, don't even think about it.
Epic Swindle Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Just saw him someone who looked like in Woolton Tesco, it's a clear sign.
Swipe Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 If that guy isn't his agent then it's irrelvant what s*** he's spouting.
David Hodgson Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 Just saw him someone who looked like in Woolton Tesco, it's a clear sign. No one goes to that Tesco's unless they're seriously committed to the locale. Done deal.
Hassony Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 If that guy isn't his agent then it's irrelvant what s*** he's spouting. we must have a big list of players who they (or an agent) claimed that they've signed for us
RafaShanks Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 (edited) Am I being paranoid here, but why do agents of Serie A players always seemingly mention us to try get their players better contracts with their clubs? Edited February 18, 2012 by RafaShanks
épieur Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Am I being paranoid here, but why do agents of Serie A players always seemingly mention us to try get their players better contracts with their clubs? Because you don't bother paying attention to all the spurious links made to clubs other than Liverpool.
domlfc Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 No one goes to that Tesco's unless they're seriously committed to the locale. Done deal.I saw Pepe there a few weeks ago, just to back up what you are saying.
David Hodgson Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 I now patronise the new mega Tescos in the Dingle. Not so many footballers shop there.
Frosty Jack Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 (edited) The guys whose privacy I was invading could've been talking about either he or Cavani. Only guessed the latter as he was being currently linked. Edited February 18, 2012 by Niemeyer
David Hodgson Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 The guys whose privacy I was invading could've been talking about either he or Cavani. Only guessed the latter as he was being currently linked. Yeah, but what about my Lavezzi/coffee gag ?
Frosty Jack Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Yeah, but what about my Lavezzi/coffee gag ? Closer to truth than you realise.
Molby Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 No. Now any chance a thread could stay on topic for a change? how come it invites me to check the box in order to remember me, and it never f***ing remembers me when I sign in? (not so on my works laptop, this one is a Mac)
Frosty Jack Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 (edited) Actually while we're at it, it seems like you can only be "remembered" on one device at a time, once you're logged in on your phone or another computer, you're no longer remembered on your own.Which can be a pain when using mobile.
