John Henry:

One missing link last year: Acquilani. Put the ball near Ngog and the goal and it's going in. Too much talk of them somewhere else.

What's he trying to say? We're keeping them?

I think if nothing else, he is saying it was a f***ing stupid decision to send him out on loan.

Maybe it's one of those things like we do on here. Slag a player the whole game then he scores a goal with his a*** and it's 'I've always said he's quality'?

Not sure I like that Henry comment... he shouldn't be saying things like that if its not what Kenny etc. feel. If it is then fine.

they may have talked about this

My guess is he has the lowdown from Kenny and Commoli about how they feel about the players in the squad and isn't making comments that aren't in line with how they feel.

If he hasn't got that, I guess we should just get used to Henry commenting on stuff like this as an uninvolved fan [owner] chipping, as opposed to owner meddling in the footballing side of things Which in itself would be an interesting exercise provided he makes clear his opinions on stuff like this counts for f*** all.

Kenny has praised Aquilani not sure why his boss isnt allowed to do the same.

I think its quite obvious we've tried to, or been prepared to, sell both - so its an odd thing to say. If its in line with what Kenny and Clarke think (on both him and N'Gog) then its fine, but if it isn't then its quite blatantly not the right thing to do however you spin it.

Until you know Kenny completely disagrees with him then its a bit pointless looking for a potential problem isnt it?

The man is clearly not thick.

exactly. I sometimes wonder about people on footy forums, do they think people working at the club are thick ?

We have the best off field team we have had since the 80s IMHO, management, coaching, boardroom. Its as smart as its been in a generation, but people on the forum haven't tuned into that yet and think they can spot things that Dalglish won't have thought of. Personally, I wouldn't flatter myself for a second to presume that i've thought of something he won't have considered. I'm not saying people can't have an opinion, but its all a bit redundant now. Just support the team and we will batter everyone.

And until we know Kenny completely agrees with it its equally pointless using it as a form of praise for the man.

I know he's not thick, but he might have had one too many (4am and the misspelling of Aquilani) and had a slip-up, which is totally understandable. I'm not saying I disagree with what he said, I just said I wasn't sure about it - as I don't know whether Kenny agrees with it or not.

I'm sure Henry would only say something about a player that his manager would concur with to some degree.

Agreed. He's a smart man, and any comments he makes publically are going to be along party lines I'm sure. Could be salesmanship, could be motivational, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't just a reactionary statement.

Same here, probably just a bit excited ahead of his first full season. Plus, it was about 4am over there when he said it.

Is he on the West Coast? Thought he'd either be in Boston, or in Florida watching the RedSox. It was about 7am on the East Coast, and regardless of that, he's not much of a drinker apparently, so more likely to have gotten up early than anything ?

I think Chairmen should be seen and not heard

I have absolutely no problem in our chairman expressing his delight at a good performance of one of our players or indeed tweeting how proud he is of the team.
