Kicker were leading on this last week. Proposed replacement for Demba Ba who was refusing to play for them again.

Any suggestion as to the fee?

 

Whilst I'd be happy enough for Babel to stay until the end of the season for him to try his under Kenny, if we sell him for a decent fee it will be the start of the summers kitty.

Babel has never had a fair crack unlike Ngog who gets time on the pitch regardless of his level of s***ness.

 

He's had plenty of fair cracks and been absolute poo. (geddit?)

He should be sold and someone who can deliver brought in.

 

Although i'd sell anyone but Pepe and Gerrard if a good enough offer came in.

 

edit: and Suso obviously. He must stay and start.

Does this lad have some sort of hypnotic powers that don't work on me? He's f***ing s****. He's been here 4 years and he's gotten worse over that time. 150 games and people still say he hasn't been given a chance. Give up the ghost for f***'s sake!

Couldnt agree more. Hes had many chances. He really does get worse by the season. Seriously lacking in brains, and thats not going to improve. Cash in now while we can get a fee.

To fund a rebuilding scheme I would. If we could sell Torres and sign Suarez, Turan and Llorente with the money i'd be fine with that. Don't think his heart is in it for us anymore.

 

But if NESV would put the money up without selling him then that would be better, obviously. Don't think that will happen mind.

Would you not then also sell Gerrard ot Pepe if we could also buy 3 top class players with the money? I wouldnt, but i wouldnt sell Torres either. We need more like him.

Gerrard only escapes the cull because of his age. For what we'd get for him compared to his worth for the club on and off the pitch it wouldn't be beneficial.

 

Pepe has two things in his favour.

Well if youre talking a world record fee i would have to think about it. But i dont see anyone paying over 50 for him now.

 

Plus, with no european footbal next year (looking likely), i think we need to have the likes of Nando here to help tempt players to sign. Plus hes feckin awesome and i would hate to see him play for another team.

You don't sell the best forward in the world because of 6 poor months under a s**** manager. Madness.

 

Its nothing to do with his form.

Its down to two factors both falling into place.

1. assuming we could get an astronomical fee well in advance of his true value

2. i think he's ready to move on. He's been here 4 seasons now. We're taking part in a rebuilding job. Is he going to want to stick around another 2/3 seasons at his personal peak whilst we try (and potentially fail) to build ourselves back up? He's 27 in March. could be 30 by the time we're back challenging.

 

But i dont see anyone paying over 50 for him now.

Torres is as big a name, if not bigger (think he sells the most shirts?) than Kaka.

They'd bid big for him, just like they did Kaka.

 

They've shown they're willing to do it.

 

anyway. this post is about how s*** Babel is.

But it's hard to look at all that pace, strength, that killer shot and compelling, albeit incredibly erratic technique, and not think that if he just had some sort of profound footballing awakening and he started playing with a brain, he'd quickly become an amazing footballer.

 

Look at Nani. He was s*** for ages too and now he's tearing up the league.

 

Not that I think it's ever going to happen for Babel really. But I can see why it's tempting to think maybe it will if he's given another chance just this one time.

Keep dreaming about llorente as much as you like, he won't be signing.

65 games he has started, 40 of which he was substituted.

 

81 times he has come on as a sub.

Babel was competing with Benayoun & Riera(who was extremely consistent in his 1st yr) whereas Ngog was playing whenever Tog was injured as we had no other option.

 

In a team that is competing at the top of the table and in the CL he isn't going to get any more chances than that.
