Stevie H Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 why is this irritating moron allowed to comment and commentate on football on the radio? and further why has he now achieved radio five live 'expert' status? had a quick listen to the monday night club last night because keown was on who tends to talk a bit of sense, only to hear claridge interrupting him and shouting him down like some gobsh*te london black cab driver who is appearing on the jeremy kyle show. he actively spoils any show he crops up on now. oh and 606 on a sunday is now presented by spoony and dion dublin. it's hard to tell whether you're listening to five live or a radio four comedy these days.
Stevie H Posted April 27, 2010 Author Posted April 27, 2010 actually scratch that, later in the podcast keown has just made claridge sound like the complete blert he is. classic radio this.
Hassony Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Claridge still makes more sense than Motson on that show
Stevie H Posted April 27, 2010 Author Posted April 27, 2010 no he doesn't. motson's widely-accepted as mental, years of sitting on a stand roof gantry with nothing but pigeons for company having sent him entirely hatstand. claridge thinks he's the voice of the common man and that years of scuffing around up front with his socks round his ankles makes him so sort of qualified people's football champion. he's a know-nothing c*** and wants to f*** off.
Hassony Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 he is a liverpool supporter apparently motson pissed me off a couple of weeks back when he was talking about how MON should go to lerner and demand that he can spend "Gazillion billion pounds" like rafa has
Stevie H Posted April 27, 2010 Author Posted April 27, 2010 (edited) Racistthat would have been gobsh*te black london cab driver. Edited April 27, 2010 by Stevie H
Kahnee Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 that would have been gobsh*te black london cab driver. Changing the words doesn't change the intent
Mooster Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Claridge still makes more sense than Motson on that show I can barely describe how much I loathe Motson, whoever it was at the BBC that chose to use him instead of Barry Davies (that led to Davies packing in football commentating) should be eternally ashamed. I can listen to pretty much any of the other jokers with only a mild level of irritation, but when national treasure John Motson starts giving his expert opinions I get far more angry than is healthy.

Stevie H Posted April 27, 2010 Author Posted April 27, 2010 Changing the words doesn't change the intent it does if you can speak english correctly.
Swipe Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Claridge is preposterous. Obviously, you don't have to be Cruyff or Mattheus to be allowed to have an opinion on football, but hearing the likes of Clarridge, Burley and Collymore so aggressively lay into their targets is just mind-boggling considering how utterly useless they were. Burley was doing commentary for the Roma v Sampdoria game the other night and he's even worse at that than his normal in-studio "punditry". He spoke more than the main commentator.
Sion Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 (edited) On Sunday afternoon Claridge was going on about Moyes managing United saying he'd be good for the role. However he reckons Moyes should leave everton for a top european club to cut his teeth 'ya know, a top italian or German club like Stuggart'. Like he could just walk into the job. Edited April 27, 2010 by Sion
Stevie H Posted April 27, 2010 Author Posted April 27, 2010 claridge was utterly baffled at keown saying that modern teams' width generally comes from attacking fullbacks. it completely dumbfounded him. he even spluttered.
Ostrich Man Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 it was funny when keown said something like "that may work at your level of football youre used to steve but at International Level its different" you could tell it really got on claridge's nerves..
johngibo YPC Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Didn't Claridge last a month as a manager or something?I don't know how these people have the nerve
Des Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 It's funny when his voice goes all high-pitched when he gets excited. The c*nt.
Hassony Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Didn't Claridge last a month as a manager or something?I don't know how these people have the nerve he won 5 out of 22 games as a player manager at portsmouth, and lasted only 36 games at millwall before getting the sack, didn't even get to play a competitive game

Gilps Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 He played 36 friendlies? No wonder he got the sack Hassony means 36 days, not 36 games. He definitley got the boot from Millwall very quickly and before they'd played a competitive game.
yellow jumper Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 millwall were in the process of getting taken over. not sure it was much, if anything to do with the job he was doing.
Epic Swindle Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Can't stand him. Football must be the only sport where the opinions of average ex journey men players are given any respectability. Collymore is another good example; to listen to him you'd think he had a succesful glittering career, when in reality he's a f*** up.
Flasher Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Claridge is always laying into Rafa, always. The only explanation for this has got to be that he is a Liverpool 'fan' (I use the term loosely). There is no other reason for him to be on the case so often. I think his understanding of the people and the work going on in the lower leagues is usually quite good to be fair, but his understanding at premier and international level is just idiotic at times. He honestly, hand on heart believes that Rafa has taken Liverpool backwards. He has a really twisted memory of the 90's and a distorted view of the squad Rafa inherited.
