Gomez Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I need to do something, I am seriously fed up of this. Sure the 'same old' will no doubt kick off on Rafa, but the for those capable of seeing the bigger picture I make this pledge. If there is not serious investment in the squad in January I am packing it in until either there is investment in the squad, or G&H put the club us for sale. I don't see the point in financially supporting a club that I barely recognise. There is clearly no desire to succeed at the very top and we are seeing the results on the pitch. Their plan of coasting the top-4 was blown away by Man City, and now they are cluelessly adrift, not doing anything but servicing their debt in the short-term hoping for saviour that will pay over the odds to give them the money they thought they'd make. This is only going to end one way, City are talking about getting a decent manager in and that will spell the end of our top hopes next season whether we get there or not this season. Man U may have similar financial issues, but they are starting from a better squad and stadium. City and Chelsea have infinite budgets, so it's between us and arsenal, and seeing as we haven't been able to compete with arsenal on the wage front for 4 years, (Walcott, Ramsey, Merida) it's not looking good. Though Gerrard and Torres will stay in the short to medium term, despite what Sky say, we will struggle to attract top players or hold on to the likes of Masch, Reina, Yossi, Agger etc. We are going to become another Everton. Celebrating a rare top-4 finish like a CL win and not even contemplating winning the league. I can't stop the emotional investment, but I can stop the financial investment. I will:Cancel my e-season ticket.Cancel my Sky subscription.Boycott official merchandise. I've had it eating weetabix. I can't stop being a Liverpool fan, but I can stop giving them money, directly or indirectly. I have a season ticket, but for geographic reasons I sell it on anyway, so I can't give that up. I can't boycott games because I rarely go (and I failed to get tix for the Reading match anyway). I can't boycott Carlsberg because it tastes like p*ss. I can't boycott Addidas, because I am not a brand-obsessed-chav - though on the off chance I need a new pair of trainers for the gym in the next however many months, I'll get something else. I need to do something.
Cobs Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I can't boycott Carlsberg because it tastes like p*ss. I need to do something. May i suggest you stop drinking p*ss ?
Gomez Posted December 19, 2009 Author Posted December 19, 2009 May i suggest you stop drinking p*ss ? It's the only thing that takes my mind off the football.
Mr. Biscan Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 (edited) You could just hope we turn it around with a new manager. Believe me I feel sorry for you, but we aren't in meltdown. Edited December 19, 2009 by Mr. Biscan
surf Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 wouldnt drinking piss remind you of football at the moment?
David Hodgson Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Whilst g & H hate is entirely noble they have virtually nothing to do with our current predicament. I think mr Gomez you, and others, don't want to face the truth staring us in the face. I mean no offense by this, because loyalty is always admirable, but the game is very nearly up for Rafa, and we all know it if we're honest.
Gomez Posted December 19, 2009 Author Posted December 19, 2009 wouldnt drinking piss remind you of football at the moment? You're thinking of Kool-aid

I just don't get how it's come to this we were brilliant in April/May lose 2 players, replace both and we are now utter schite
Rich Gobey Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 You're thinking of Kool-aid He's thinking about us playing Urine awaya in the Europa.
MFletcher Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I just don't get how it's come to this we were brilliant in April/May lose 2 players, replace both and we are now utter schite Me neither. Utterly f***ing bizarre.
D.Boon Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I just don't get how it's come to this we were brilliant in April/May lose 2 players, replace both and we are now utter schite Problem is we have only replaced one. The other has had no influence on the team at all.
Stevie H Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I just don't get how it's come to this we were brilliant in April/May lose 2 players, replace both and we are now utter schite yeah, the turnaround this season is f***ing stupid. the injuries and lack of top class cover have played a part but we're just embarrassingly bad on the pitch and it shows no sign of changing.
Benzo-13 Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I'm gutted for Rafa but a lot of players have gone down in my estimation this season with their spineless attitude.

As I indicated above, Can we keep at least one thread on this forum from the simpleton view of 'we lost - sack the manager?' We have five years to judge Rafa on, not five months. It can't be just coincidence that this is the year G&H screwed him and us over.
Ramón Benítez Hernández Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I'm gutted for Rafa but a lot of players have gone down in my estimation this season with their spineless attitude. Including our captain.
Cobs Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Problem is we have only replaced one. The other has had no influence on the team at all. The Lucas/Masch combo was good enough when we won 4-1 at OT there's a lot of players letting the manager down this season and no-one seems to want to take any responsibility on the pitch for it, just letting the manager take huge amounts of grief off the pitch instead

Granted there are many other factors for the s*** we are seeing but that is undniable one of the factors.

Benzo-13 Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Including our captain. Mascherano, Torres and Reina look themselves this season. The rest? Hmm..
Gomez Posted December 19, 2009 Author Posted December 19, 2009 I just don't get how it's come to this we were brilliant in April/May lose 2 players, replace both and we are now utter schite 3 players. Alonso, Arbeloa and Hyypia. Plus we rode our luck last year and we knew it. We all said we needed strengthening up front, in central defense and central mid, and that was without losing the first two. We could have got Turner, Tevez, Barry as well as Johnson. And probably Silva. We'd be challenging with that team. But that would have cost. Though no more than what we've made in outgoings (Arbeloa and Alonso) and CL money. But alas, that had to go to pay for G&H to buy the club. I'm beginning to think Aquilani was signed because he cost £5m up front as opposed to being Rafa's first choice to replace Xabi.
Damian_de Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I'm beginning to think Aquilani was signed because he cost £5m up front as opposed to being Rafa's first choice to replace Xabi.I think it was certainly a factor, and an easy concession to negotiate given his injuries, but there's no evidence we looked at anyone else for that role (except possibly Barry second time around), so I think he was definitely near the top of the list.
WillG Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Whilst g & H hate is entirely noble they have virtually nothing to do with our current predicament. While we're all entitled to our own opinion, that's just about the stupidest f*cking thing I've ever read on here (and God knows you've got some stiff competition). I'm still flabbergasted that some people on here forget Rafa's record until these two took over: First Season - Champions League WinnersSecond Season - FA Cup WinnersThird Season - Champion League Finalists ...and even after Rafa smelt a rat in the aftermath of the 07 Final (with their refusal to sanction a bid for Eto'o) he still got us to another CL semi the following season. To reply to the original post, some of us have refused to give the club any money, directly or indirectly, while those c*nts are still in control, - but with such a huge fan base it really is p*ssing in the wind. While SoS and other groups undertake real 'noble' work our only hope is to find a buyer, cos if you think things are bad now...

Agree with that. The two soul-sucking vermin have cultivated an uneasy atmosphere every season since those were we threaten to implode. I think that this has taken a lot of fight out of a lot of great people involved at our club.
pipnasty Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Believe me I feel sorry for you, but we aren't in meltdown. Then what the f*** was all of that SOS s*** all about then? This isn't a dig at SOS but it's become quite clear that you, like others, didn't believe one word of what you were saying with regard to them.
WillG Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I think that this has taken a lot of fight out of a lot of great people involved at our club. Not least the players! You can't underestimate the effect the close season antics had on them - going from being one of the best teams around in the last third of the season, to having the rug pulled from under them - very demoralising.
