Here we are. No pussy footing about. No wibbling. No wobbling.

Just a pure and simple HALF TIME comeback required.

Chelsea don't look anything decent - IF they beat us then they WILL get tonked by Barca. Pure and simple.

But that's a big IF. What's their game plan now? They would be insane to come at us on Tuesday. So they sit back. Absorb the pressure. We have the chance to attack attack attack attack.

IF we get a goal? What do they do? A team that starts with a negative idea - continues - IF we get a goal - then maybe another - then what do they do?

It's on. We have the ability to beat them at theirs and beat them soundly.

Only the best team we've played all season, and probably for several seasons.

I'd give up on this tie, personally.

It's not impossible for us to go through, but to even attempt it would take a massive effort that I'd rather save for league games.

If we go through, we'll have 2 games against Barca... We clearly don't have what it takes to compete on both fronts.

Agree with the head, but the heart is revulsed by the idea of giving up a CL QF tie.

Except Andreas@Aachen has probably posted the equivalent to this thread on a Bayern forum this morning - it could be two games against Bayern yet ;)

Seriously though, what you say makes sense but even though I know it is ridiculous I can't bring myself to just give them this tie. I want a massive effrot from us next week, throw everything at them.

I know that will probably just be counterproductive in the end, but I just can't face going out without a fight.

I understand this too. I'm sure I wouldn't even be considering it if we hadn't won the trophy in '05.

yep, I agree with this, go 100% for the league, the CL is a massive bonus this season

Yeah, we're spoilt in this competition and it shows in my reaction today. I want the league so bad it hurts.

Grudgingly i may have to agree with this.

We shouldn't give up but we shouldn't delude ourselves. That was the best performance by an away side at Anfield in years.

Aye. Not quite as dominant as Barca back in 01(?) but it was close. And we're a better team by far than then.

If it was put to you that we could win against Blackburn this Saturday and Arsenal the following week, whilst putting out a few second string players this Tuesday - would you take it?

I would. I resent the idea of giving up a Champions Leaguw Quarter Final, bur we have two crucial league matches either side of the match and the last thing we need is one of our key men picking up a niggly muscle injury that rules them out for a couple of games. Those couple of games could be crucial in deciding where the league goes, and at the minute we have far more chance of winning that.

We're still a better team than them.

Be interesting to see how the continue for the rest of the season, cos last night's performances was the exception rather than the rule for them this year

Easy that:

Is Michael Essien fit?

If so, chances are they'll be very good. If not, chances are they can be got at.

As has been said though, the one advantage of Stevie being man-marked by their best midfielder is the fact it surely free's up space for our other attackers.

Unfortunately, our whole team was rubbish

When you walked out at half time at Istanbul and threw your ticket away - did they let you back in?

No comment on the fact that you were wrong about how good Chelsea were?

Doesn't do anybody any favours to try and claim any different.

It was better because we're miles better now, and Barca were spawny as anything not to be 2-0 down. I can't remember as good a performance.

They took their goals well - we didn't defend that well.

There wasn't as big a difference between the two sides as the scoreline suggests. We have it in us to nick a couple of goals at their place. They think they've won. As did AC Milan. As did the Mancs a few weeks back.

If we can beat Real Madrid as well as we did and the Mancs and Villa and others - then we still have a chance in this tie.

Not a huge chance. Not an easy chance. Just a chance. And if there were a bunch of players in world football and a manager you'd put a bit of a punt on - it would be Rafa Benitez and Liverpool FC.

It's on. These are the situations El Boss thrives on.

There was a massive difference Andy. They had one cleared off the line, Drogba missed two other sitters and they were far, far better on the night. We could have lost by four and not really complained.
