fred milne Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 I can't see a thread on this anywhere. On the basis that Insua isn't registered for the CL, we need to keep Aurelio fit for the Chelsea games so I'd go with this: ReinaArbeloa Carra Agger InsuaMasch XabiKuyt Gerrard RieraTorres Subs: Cavalieri, Skrtel, Aurelio, Lucas, Yossi, Babel, Ngog.

Why would you drop a centre back who's helped keep two clean sheets against Real Madrid and been part of the team thats walloped Man Utd and Villa? Its a bit harsh. I know he's had a dodgy int week but who cares? This is Liverpool.

However, I reckon Fulham may shut up shop so it might be useful to have Agger bringing the ball into midfield.

Sion Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Strongest team possible, f*** the CL PepeArb Carra Skrtel AurKuyt Alonso Masch RieraGerrardTorres Spearing if Masch isn't fit
Chili Palmer Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Strongest team possible, f*** the CL PepeArb Carra Skrtel AurKuyt Alonso Masch RieraGerrardTorres Spearing if Masch isn't fit Yep, I'll go with that.
psl Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Can't see Masch playing after the week he's had. Really tough game this, they've beaten the Mancs and Arsenal at home, drawn with Chelsea there and taken a point from Anfield. Hodgson seems desperate to make it up to the Mancs too.

fred milne Posted April 2, 2009 Author Posted April 2, 2009 Can't see Masch playing after the week he's had.He may as well. He's suspended for Wednesday.
muleskinner Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Mascherano will be knackered after getting a good hiding at 3,600 ft in Bolivia 6-1 and then a 14 hour flight back.
MarkD Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Agree with Fred, Masch can/will rest on Wednesday. I think he will play. I also think Agger will play - a) to sort of placate the contract conversation but b) Martin will play against Drogba on Wednesday.
psl Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 He may as well. He's suspended for Wednesday.Yeah, I know. Just can't see it though. Not very Rafa.

Would prefer to see Spearing instead of Lucas if Masch isn't fit but it's highly unlikely, let's be honest if Masch isn't fit then Lucas will start. Fulham's midfield thrive on time on the ball. Masch/Spearing won't give them that whereas Lucas may allow them a little more. Edited April 2, 2009 by richwilks
Stevie H Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 I'd start Lucas.ahead of mascherano? yeah. he's not even back in england until tomorrow morning having got a beating la paz, without even paying for it. lucas i agree with.

Dont see Rafa letting a contract situation have any impact on team selection. Fitness and mentality will be the key factors, no?
Jarg Armani Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 ahead of mascherano? yeah. he's not even back in england until tomorrow morning having got a beating la paz, without even paying for it. lucas i agree with. without even paying for it? yes, for those reasons, plus lucas is playing pretty well i reckon. He's a fairly safe pair of hands, and a very useful scapegoat.
Nebraska Red Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 (edited) Mascherano will be fine, get him a good strong coffee and and a bacon and egg sarnie. he'll be fine. it's a late kick off, so he'll have the extra 2 hours to recover as well. Edited April 2, 2009 by Nebraska Red

Yesterday will have been like a high altitude training session for Masch. He'll be invincible at sea level.
Knox_Harrington Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 I'd play Masch. If not Masch I'd play Lucas.
BG Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Mascherano will be knackered after getting a good hiding at 3,600 ft in Bolivia 6-1 and then a 14 hour flight back. Its 3600m (i.e. over 12000 ft)in La Paz. Having gone on a run the day after I arrived in Mexico City (2200m) I can vouch for the difficulty and how quickly you get knackered. No wonder Bolivia get these results sometimes - I seem to remember them thrashing Brazil in La Paz a few years ago.
windy city red Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 I dreamt last night that we drew this match. What a terrible vision.
