Molby Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 how would you feel if you saw a flyer on your seat when you walked in, and posters to the same effect, penned by the manager and the players, asking you to: 1 get behind your team 2 if not, at least don't boo ? would you feel insulted? as in "who is Rafa to tell me what to do? I pay my money and I'll boo if I want to" or would you be thinking "this isn't TLW but then neither is booing in the first place, oh dear, I'm so confused" or would you think "this is good but it doesn't go far enough, people who boo should get a life ban"
Gunga Din Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 i'd make an aeroplane out of it and try and land it on the pitch
aka Dus Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 It would depend on whether the game in question was the biggest game in 18 years or not.
uncle bob Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 booing the team before or during the match is never acceptable but after if they have played poorly is a different matter
MarkD Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 I'd say it not the right thing to do and could bring all sorts of repocussions. I'd go as far as to to say it's taboo.
dorgie Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 I'd say "why not pick on those who leave early as well as the booers"
Molby Posted December 15, 2008 Author Posted December 15, 2008 It would depend on whether the game in question was the biggest game in 18 years or not. every game would be, by definition, as long as the PL is within our grasp so, Arsenal is the biggest PL game in 18 years, thread to follow later
smithdown Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 I'd roll it up, poke into someone's pocket and p*ss in it
CarraLegend Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 booing the team before or during the match is never acceptable but after if they have played poorly is a different matter No it isnt.
Gunga Din Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 In all seriousness, other teams fans would have a field day with us if we handed out leaflets asking our fans not to boo the team.
Molby Posted December 15, 2008 Author Posted December 15, 2008 booing the team before or during the match is never acceptable but after if they have played poorly is a different matter do you boo your dad when he comes home after an 18 hour shift but he hasn't made much money? does your wife boo you if you work on her for an hour but still can't give her an orgasm? the assumption is that the playes do their best
Molby Posted December 15, 2008 Author Posted December 15, 2008 In all seriousness, other teams fans would have a field day with us if we handed out leaflets asking our fans not to boo the team. I think you have identified a major drawback but oversimpilfied it surely there is a way of wording it correctly, and even if they take the piss, so what? - if improves our support opposition fans have a field day anyway, re the quality of our home support
aka Dus Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 The biggest PL game only? So if they don't beat Arsenal then the game v Bolton is the biggest PL game in December in 18 years. And if they don't get the result there, the Newcastle game is billed as the biggest PL game on a Sunday in December in 18 years... And so on and so on in ever diminishing circles until you disappear up your own a***?
stressederic Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 I think you have identified a major drawback but oversimpilfied it surely there is a way of wording it correctly, and even if they take the piss, so what? - if improves our support opposition fans have a field day anyway, re the quality of our home support The thing is that's pretty much the reasoning that Chelsea likely have in regards to the flags and scarves they hand out to the crowd and we've been rather scathing to them about it.
Kahnee Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 does your wife boo you if you work on her for an hour but still can't give her an orgasm? Dunno - never happenedYour wife has complained a couple of times though

Falconhoof Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 booing the team before or during the match is never acceptable but after if they have played poorly is a different matter Nobody who has been going to Anfield for decades, as you claim you have, would say that. Its just not in the tradition of Liverpool football club. Its only happened recently as far as I can tell, IMO since football is all over Sky tv.Monkey see, monkey do. Not sure what difference a leaflet at one game is going to make but i'd never boo my own team. Its just not on.
smithdown Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 I think there should be a poster campaign on all the buses, students employed to hand out fliers, cars with loudhailers around the ground on matchdays: a complete over-reaction is whats called for here and Molby might just have got the contract.
David Hodgson Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 how would you feel if you saw a flyer on your seat when you walked in, and posters to the same effect, penned by the manager and the players, asking you to: 1 get behind your team 2 if not, at least don't boo ? would you feel insulted? as in "who is Rafa to tell me what to do? People should never boo, but it's a bit like asking for an apology, requesting it to cease in a leaflet. Unfortunately, it has to remain people's perogative to boo, however facile it is to actually do it. If people are going to boo then those that won't should feel free to shout them down and tell them that they are crap fans for doing so.
Maldini Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Just stick snipers on the roof to take out the c****
