i just don't get how he seems to be immune from punishment. this 'it's part of his personality' crap is no excuse or justification for behaviour that any other player would be punished for.

It's baffling, his persistent fouling and abuse of referees when things aren't going his way have gone unpunished for years.

Even Shearer didn't get it this easy.

shearer never had the red mist that rooney gets. he'd moan and let defenders know he was there, but never with the kind of flying challenges rooney puts in. you can see rooney about to pop when he first starts charging about, things not having gone his way, so surely referees can too? and that's just his ploughing into opponents, without mentioning the sh*te he then throws at referees too like you say.

He's a fkin bellend, I hope he breaks his leg in one of those challenges, just snaps it in two. Or three would be better.

It's baffling,

It isn't really though is it?

All you need do is remember who he plays for.

EDIT - And both those challenges are straight reds.

Maybe if he'd turned into the player everyone said he was going to, then he'd have grown out of that s****. Another goal against a crap side. He truly is the Messiah.

it is baffling because no other player seems to get away with such obvious violent conduct. terry seems to get away with handballs on a regular basis, ronaldo with his diving, even gerrard with a few iffy bits of gamesmanship from time to time. all high profile players. but none of them have this red mist crap that rooney does.

he's not a striker though is he? not really arsed about how he plays or how many goals he scores, i just get pissed off that he gets away with such naked aggression that other players, particularly foreign ones, wouldn't, and that it's made out to be part of his personality so that's ok then.

that shouldn't matter in the champions league should it? could see english refs being swayed by who he is yeah, but shouldn't be te same case in europe. unless uefa has issued some edict that any player whose face adorns its global ad campaigns isn't to be sent off.

Heard on the radio this morning that UEFA were looking into the stamping incident and a possible ban for Rooney. Three matches would be nice.

if they do look at it again it has to be a 3 match ban

give you two to one they do nothing about it due to united having a word behind closed doors about them being uefa's representative in the world club cup.

did aalborg's manager say nothing about it? he's supposed to be a liverpool fan isn't he?

I just turned it over and saw him stamping on the Aalborg player, i was waiting for the usual uncomfortable silence from the Sky commentators when it was shown in slow motion. Tyler said "he was just sorting his feet out" and i think Dublin said, and i am paraphrasing, "the Aalborg player will be able to tell his grandkids Wayne Rooney stamped on him". It sickens my hole.

I think the player came out and said it should have been a red card but that Rooney apologised to him afterwards and "these things happen in football"

f***'s sake. it's these jokey comments about it just being part of his make-up that make it all the more annoying. if that was mascherano or obi mikel or say diouf doing it the same pundits would be calling for them to be arrested and deported.

Haven't seen the Rooney stuff yet and youtube is blocked in work but.... you obviously don't remember Shearer kicking Neil Lennon in the head while Lennon lay on the floor? Then using his England captain bit to escape a ban!
