I guess he just realised that Liverpool were close to going out of the cup and thought that he should do the right thing and make sure that didn't happen. He missed the decisive penalty in the shoot out too, if I remember correctly.

Yeah he missed their last penalty and Pongolle scored for us to win. I'm assuming it wasn't one of his best games.
