Just what type of player is he exactly? He looks a million miles away from being a top player imo.

He's a very good player, had a bit of stinker last night and I was screaming at the tv for Rafa to take him off after he was booked.

He's deffo not a million miles away though.

I just don't see what he does Kev, is he meant to be a holding type player or a more attacking one?

Just wasn't in the game last night, drifted through it.

Difficult game to come into though so hopefully he'll get another chance against Crewe and build some confidence.

Who knows, he struggled last night in my opinion, but I still think he's a very good player.

he's been both at gremio, right nowhe's clearly under instructions to press, hassle, get the ball and keep it simple.

he didn't have a great game last night, that doesn't mean he needs to be written off, as mike

said, first game of the season for him.

I'm not writting him off. Clearly he has something about him and Rafa and others can see it. I personally can't. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I thought last season he started slowly and gradually made himself into a useful squad player, kept it simple, did most things well. At the moment I can't see which direction he's going to best develop into, it's early days this season to be writing off his career though. It'll be interesting to see how his game matures. Yes, he is the weakest of our senior, first choice midfielders but he is also the least experienced (and youngest?) and the one who has had to make the biggest adjustment in the last 12-15 months.

plessis is younger and you could argue he put in a better performance away at arsenal? he's 22 in jan.

yes, I suspected that which is why I put in those caveats - I regard Plessis as a reserve who gets a game now and again, rather than a first team regular starter which is where I woudl place Lucas.

Have yet to see him doing anything particularly well, just looks generally competent. You'd expect at least one skill to be standing out at this stage if he is to really make a mark, eg Xabi passing, Masch tackling, or Stevie shooting, but there's nothing really. Just a competent player running around putting his foot into tackles now and then - then passing the ball at most ten yards?
