This club is taking a battering from all sides at the moment and its hard to see a way out of the negativity but our fans were magnificent today in their respect for Havant. I was proud to be a Liverpool fan and for football to mean something more than takeovers and corporate finance and Rafa's job again.

People will be on the forums slagging Rafa off and the team off because it wasn't a 10-0 walkover but today was about Havant and Waterlooville, their fans and players. They got the kop chanting Havant, they joined in with YNWA and their players gave everything to make it a good cup tie. They rightly stayed on the pitch and milked the applause, not because we patronised them but because they earned our respect. Thats one of the main things that makes the club special and it gets noticed, maybe not by the gutter press but it earns the club respect far and wide and sometimes thats more important than the performance. Just wanted to comment on that and not let it be forgotten that our fans have real class even when we're not having the best of times.

how bad was the booing at half time? (not having a dig at your post) Aldo was talking about it on Radio City saying that it was quite justified in a way....

Was it a minority?

He also commented on the fantastic reception the fans gave the Havant players at the start of the second half...

There was booing, but it was quickly drowned out by applause.

What got me today was the Kop to a man/boy/girl applauded both Havant goals.

Yeah, Aldo correctly pointed out that he can't think of another set of fans that would have done that.

The booing wasn't that widespread to be fair Barnesy. Not from where I was sitting at the main stand side of the Kop anyway.

There was frustration at the performance in the first half and some of the player were getting dogs abuse but It wasn't as widespread as the unanimous applause for havant. As kev says, everyone applauded their goals and applauded them off the pitch.

I am at the Anfield Rd end of the Upper Cenny

The majority clapped them as they returned to their half after scoring

I think clapping them when they went over to take corners at the Kop end was a bit much, especially after they scored from one of them!

But nice that the lad who scored the second said we were the best fans in the world after the game

Nice to see even their fans clapping when we made a substution.

Altogether different world when non-league clubs paly at Prem ground.

It was like a 1960's love in at certain points in the game.

They deserved their moment and hope they had a great day, Made it even better when we brought on some big names towards the end. How many of us have dreamed of playing against some of the stars on the pitch today

Had a pint with some of their fans after the game in Matthew Street. Good set of lads who had only good things to say about us.

Agree with the OP. Was nice to be reminded about the traditions that make our club so special.

Their skipper said on MOTD that at the end of teh match he joined in the singing on YNWA and was singing it at Gerrard. :D

I agree it was really good. I have just been watching the "sunday supplement" (i know its a load of s****!) on one of the hacks was saying that before the game 2 of their players were crying looking at the "THIS IS ANFIELD" sign. Romantic stuff.

incidently, what were your seats like?

Tears in their eyes reading that sign.

The seats were fine mate, decent view from there. Glad you could organise things.

I was in my usual season ticket spot (Near the kop - upper Kemlyn) and didn't hear any booing.

Mind you anyone that booed at half time deserved to be slotted.
