We have 60 players on our books?

Dunno how accurate it is etc and how many are reserves and all that but it got me thinking... do we need such a large squad? Is this the way the game has gone?

 

Even if you had 4 players for every position that is 'only' 44 in a squad.

If you exclude the fringe, reserve team players basically our squad has around 22 players in it, sounds reasonable to me.

Well we do buy about 30 16 year old CB's for the future every summer rather than one good one so maybe. Could be long term we'll have every CB in the world hense we'll win the league with every teams back four looking like newcastles as their all at our club.

...or the Newcastle approach as it's known. All of our youth signings combined, the 30 or so young players Rafa signed have probably cost £2-3m between them tops.

That's his job as a presenter though. You'll find his knowledge of football - especially the lower leagues - is extraordinary. He has an excellent knowledge of the game.

 

He's not a Richards Keys type who has been trained to sit there in a suit and question whether rotation or zonal marking is the reason behind Liverpool failing to win by more than three goals. Better yet, he'll ask his 'guests' whether Steven Gerrard was really happy on the right wing on the night we've just beaten Barcelona in the Nou Camp.
