If the player in question is Kaladze.I can see why he's pissed off especially if he's free. It's almost impossible to win this league so you don't need your own bosses making it even harder.

I'm guessing Kaladze would replace Riise on the left and can also play CB.

Fee of £4M was suggested. There was money available for Heinze in the summer, so that shouldn't have been an issue - we'd probably get more for Riise anyhow.

That was my thinking. Riise to Villa for more than 4 million and Kaladze in. I guess that's what he was talking about when he mentioned bringing in players and shifting others out.

Good news. The 2 CL games are probably the most important of his Liverpool career now, even more so than the CL finals. Win those, G+H will be happy, club will have more money and Rafa will get what he wants. There would probably be a good atmosphere around the club when they come next month.

The urgency on Kaladze is strange though. I thjought he signed a new contract till 2010.

Good news that Rafa's career at Liverpool depends absolutely 100% on two matches?

In what way is that good news?

Just wondering with the possibility of him going, how would he be remembered by the masses of fans around the world? Perfect settling influence with a strong tactical acumen, his rotation policy notwithstanding. On the flip side it might be argued he's 2 shooutouts from medicrity. Me, I like him and hope he stays for a long time. The thoughts of José really doesn't sit well with me.

It doesn't say his career depends on those two matches anywhere.

And I reckon Kaladze might be a throwaway name - we aren't interested in him but he's someone other clubs can think we are. I wouldn't be surprised if he's a......smokescreen.

You are right. The structure of my post was wrong. Good news that Rafa has pulled out an olive branch. One party had to back down and it was never going to be G+H.

The second part of my post is as you say how important the next two CL games are.

I dunno, Rafa was supposedly interested in Heinze because he could play LB and CB equally well, so can Kaladze. He apparently wanted to play with a "floating 3" at the back whereby when one full back went forward the other tucked in and we became a back 3, he tried to get Riise playing this way, he had him playing CB a few times in training, I think in one of the pre seasons too.

I think Kaladze would have fitted that requirement fine, I think he's an excellent little player - just strange to release his name now, and the agreed price. Rafa's definitely going to miss out on him now, unless Kaladze REALLY wants to come here. Seems a bit like a sacrificial name for the press, whilst Rafa tries to keep the real targets from going anywhere else.

Just a theory ;)

whats apparent more than ever now is that the fans could hold the swaying vote in all this.

I was watching sky yesterday and the suggestion from them is that our fans would be indifferent if he was sacked. which is complete b******s.

If the yanks think that, then they are very much wrong. Wednesday night, and Manu will be our chance to show that our loyalty is with rafa, and not hicks and gillete. H + G need to earn our respect. They were going the right way about it until this debacle.

I dont think we should underestimate our power in this little dispute. and porto at home is the first time we will have an opportunity to show it. If we dont grasp it, it will be criminal.

you'd assume that he's at least agreed to.

There was talk that Chelsea were interested in him a little while ago.

Re Kaladhze - Rafa sets great store in players who want to come and play for Liverpool. If Kaladhze is that easily 'lost' I doubt Rafa really wanted him - especially as January or August are still some way away. If however he's prepared to hang on a couple of weeks or so, and we atre his choice, then Rafa hasn'ty actually lost him at all and he shows onwe of the things Rafa values in a player.

you really believe they give a f*** what the customers think?

No business can afford to totally ignore the needs, wishes and desires of it's customer base. At the very least if it were required, it would give them something to consider.
