NWR Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 I had the one where you pressed their heads and the leg shot out and kicked the ball. What was that called?
Stevie H Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 I had the one where you pressed their heads and the leg shot out and kicked the ball. What was that called?striker. was brilliant.
Guest petelfc Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 I had the one where you pressed their heads and the leg shot out and kicked the ball. What was that called? Striker was the rich kids game.
NWR Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 striker. was brilliant. Yea it was, but it never really took off and when you broke the players heads off it was hard to get replacements. Had hours of fun with my mates, and petelfc, we lived on the council estate.
Duncan Disorderly Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Striker was the rich kids game.My ar$e it was, I had it and it was just a shyte version of subutteo.
slapnuts Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I had the one where you pressed their heads and the leg shot out and kicked the ball. What was that called? it was a corner taker wasnt it?
Barnesy_10 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I had Subbuteo... had a picture of John Barnes at Watford on the front of the box.The pitch went out of shape when my mum put it in the wash for some reason... Also had that one where it was like a mini stadium and the players were on tracks and you turned a series of knobs behind the goal to get the player to run up and down the track..

Sounds just like Newcastle.
John am Rhein Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 when you broke the players heads off Who trained you? Vinny Jones?
Tosh Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 My grandad made me a board and glued my pitch to it. Kept it under the bed when not in use. Always too tempting to drag rather than flick, though. I sold all my stuff years and years back
John am Rhein Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Still got all mine packed away somewhere. Pitch was pinned onto a chipboard but that's long since been removed for easier storage.
TheLa Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I had that plastic mat pitch thingy that come rolled up in a tube instead of you're standard piece of cloth pitch. What teams did everyone have? Obviously Liverpool and Liverpool away (A ghastly green effort, maybe even the centenary away kit) and the red and blue teams you got as standard. I had Bilbao, Italy, Argentina, Man City (for one reason or another) and Sampdoria. Think that was it, probably had a few more but I can't remember. Had the European Cup and the FA Cup as well. Didn't have stands, floodlights or any of that s***e.
Guest petelfc Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I had the cloth pitch that stuck to your carpet. Great it was, really smooth. My mate, the only child, had all the stands, floodlights, et.
TheLa Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 My mate, the only child, had all the stands, floodlights, et. Did he manage to get hold of a Dukla Prague away kit? Sorry, someone had to do it.
Billy Dane Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Amongst others I had Forfar Athletic, light and dark blue hoops. Organised a subbuteo competition at school. We used to pin the pitches onto the teacher's desk at lunchtime, we even had a few teachers come in to watch the games. Aaah happy days.
fyds Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I had Subbuteo first, then Striker - I liked Striker better. One mate, Ian had the subbuteo with all the floodlights and stuff. I'm sure I've told this one before, but we were in his house eating his Mum's cheese and pickle butties and playing subbuteo while waiting for his brother to come home so we could all go and play footy on St Joey's School field before tea. His brother came in, dropped his Gola hold-all and came flying into the living room shouting 'Mum! Mum! Guess what? Mr Shankly's picked me for the first team on Saturday!' So started Thommo's Anfield career.
Siang Posted November 19, 2007 Author Posted November 19, 2007 i still have a set of Arsenal with their 80 jerseys, LFC (of course, all red and the legendary (in my view of course), the white / black away set) and Wolves!!!

charlie clown Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I preferred striker an all. Lost that years ago but I've still got my subbuteo set, still boxed up and everything. The original teams I had were Liverpool and Watford no idea which others I've got..
