I hope Kuyt plays. He had a bad game against Blackburn, but it wasn't for want of trying. His English is good and he will have heard and read the unwarranted personal attacks (and I don't mean particularly on here). He missed out tonight when he probably could have had a couple of goals so it's important his confidence isn't unduly dented. If we want to sell him that's fine, but we should not destroy him by groaning at the mere mention of his possible selection. He doesn't deserve it on a personal level and he may also yet prove to be invaluable in a long season. A home game against relatively weak opposition where he gets support on and off the pitch could put his season back on track.

He doesn't need to show the fans any such thing. he needs to pick a team he believes can wipe out Fulham - which should be just about any 11 available, to be fair.

I agree that people should lay off him - but that's eff all to do with his Dad dying. How long ago was that? How long should it be used as a reason/excuse for poor form? In a normal walk of life, you'd be lucky to get a weeks compassionate leave and that would be that.

 

I'm not being heartless but the death of his Father really shouldn't come into the equation at all.

His form hasn't been bad, but his finishing has been askew - happens with all strikers from time to time. Until last night, everybodys finishing had been off-beam, not just Kuyt's.
