Kahnee Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 1) Did anyone else think we looked a damn sight better when he took on the Agger role of pushing into the opposition's half? 2) Don't go opening a restaurant on the same day we have a game - it clearly affects your concentration
Rimbeux Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Completely, he suddenly remembered how to play, and suddenly realised the value in brining it forward to make the extra man. Sometimes i think he forgets he played in midfield once!
liveabiglife Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 1) Did anyone else think we looked a damn sight better when he took on the Agger role of pushing into the opposition's half? Totally agree - prior to that I thought he was having a shocker. I think he and Sami looked like they had no idea what the other was actually going to do, and once Carra started pushing forward I thought we looked more solid at the back - like they suddenly knew what was what. 2) Don't go opening a restaurant on the same day we have a game - it clearly affects your concentration Second that!
Beardsley Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Like someone else said in another thread: He remembered two goals too late.
JRC Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 I've heard suggestions that he is not fully fit, and but for Agger, would have had more of a rest since his rib injury. He certainly seems to be giving his man more room to work in - it was vey noticable against Portsmouth how easy Kanu was finding it to receive and hold the ball; against Marseille they found room to turn (and score) in front of our 2 CB; and against Spurs, apart from his part in the goals and the clearance off the line, there was one point where Keane had a free shot when he turned jut a yard or 2 outside the box without any pressure on him. Hopefully we will really see the benefit of his international retirement in the next 2 weeks
Flasher Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 He's definietly the one who a) is rarely rotated, if at all, and b) needs a rest the most. He's looked dead on his feat a lot recently.
growler Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 re opening night, that is a bit silly. Especially during an international break. You would think, with international games coming up, and him no longer playing internationals, that MIGHT be a good time to open it....
Guest Paul AB Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 carra is taking some unwarranted stick lately. people forget that before the spurs game, and probably his first real dodgy mistake in a long time, we had only conceded 2 goals in 7 games. it's the modern disease of singling out individuals, even the best, when the team as a whole isn't performing.

Whilst our recent goals against record suggests otherwise, our defence hasn't exactly been tight as a duck's a*** as far as opportunities for the opposition goes - and he was directly responsible for both goals on Sunday.
Guest Paul AB Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 so the defence hasn't been tight, but our record says otherwise. ok.

We conceded a goal against Wigan, but got away with it.
Guest Paul AB Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 We conceded a goal against Wigan, but got away with it. carra out.
Gunga Din Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 carra out. sack Carra, sell Rafa, Buy Bramble
Kahnee Posted October 10, 2007 Author Posted October 10, 2007 carra is taking some unwarranted stick lately. people forget that before the spurs game, and probably his first real dodgy mistake in a long time, we had only conceded 2 goals in 7 games. it's the modern disease of singling out individuals, even the best, when the team as a whole isn't performing. So he's above criticism when his standards fall below their usually-stratospheric levels? f*** me, might as well shut the board down now Could you post a list of players we are allowe to discuss in a less than sycophantic manner? I'd hate to get it wrong should Alonso or Gerrard have a s*** game
Guest Paul AB Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 considering the form he's been in for the club over the past few seasons, yes, he should be above criticism when his form drops ever so slightly below his usual brilliance. ffs, the lad has been a colosus.

Have I said he hasn't been? No And blind faith is a dangerous road to go down, and given his own self-critical nature I doubt it would be one he would endorse
Guest Paul AB Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 blind faith? you're talking as though he's finished.
Kahnee Posted October 10, 2007 Author Posted October 10, 2007 blind faith? you're talking as though he's finished. Huh? How the f*** do you draw that conclusion?
_00_deathscar Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Is it wrong to point out he's been pretty shyte since he's come back from injury then? Just as Gerrard has...?
Guest Paul AB Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Is it wrong to point out he's been pretty shyte since he's come back from injury then? Just as Gerrard has...? what do you mean by "pretty shyte" exactly? not enough somersaults?
_00_deathscar Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 so the defence hasn't been tight, but our record says otherwise. ok. Over the course of the season it's fair to use such facts, but over 3-4 games it isn't neccessarily - statistics aren't everything. We have allowed the opposition far too many opportunities (compared to what we usually do) in recent games.
_00_deathscar Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 what do you mean by "pretty shyte" exactly? not enough somersaults? What the bleeding f***...? Alright - Carra's been immense in recent games - best form of his life. Happy?
Guest Paul AB Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 We have allowed the opposition far too many opportunities (compared to what we usually do) in recent games. i must have been in a cave. reading was the about the only time i've felt uneasy about our defence, and the game was pretty open. otherwise we've been as tight as a nuns fanny.
