Wigan Pier (Orwell pub) is about half of mile from the ground (walking away from the town centre) there's an industrial estate on the left as you drive in, park there and walk about 200 yards to the pub (this time towards the town centre).

Yeah, it's just sideroads, don't think there are double yellow lines. I've parked there a couple of times and not seen any signs of trouble (broken windows, meat and potato pies scraped across windscreens )

 

To be honest nothings really too far away from each other, the biggest inconvenience is the massive traffic jams as you come off the M6 and head towards the stadium (about 30 mins to cover about a mile and a half)

 

Personally, I'd get the train (although I guess they'd be chocca) and have a few beers

I'll be getting the train as well, the point is from Liverpool or Southport. The trains from Liverpool last time were a joke, so the ones from Southport might be a better option.

Aye sorry about that fella. My clunting work made a balls up of wages and in typical tight wad stylee are refusing to pay me what they owe until the next pay run on the 5th of Oct. I ran out of month befre the money was over......or something like that.
