Siang Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 useful little turd isn't he... once he gets a good number of games on the trot, he's going to be one hell of an irritating player for opposing defenders!!!
IgPig Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Thought he was excellent last night - very clever player.
Stevie H Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 he watched videos of peter beardsley when he was young.
Benitez Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 First half he was fantastic, a menace every time he got the ball. He gives us possibilities With the way Jermaine Pennant has started the season (and finished last season), and having someone like Yossi, hopefully that keeps Pennant on his toes and gives us depth on that side of the pitch.
fred milne Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 He had a great game last night - pretty much everything he did had an end product. I'd like to see how he fares against stronger opposition but it looks like Pennant may have a fight on his hands.
Eiler99 Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 The play to set up Kuyt for the fourth was class. Very, very clever player.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 looked very good. Has more pace than I initially thought.
Tommy Cockles Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 he watched videos of peter beardsley when he was young. On football or grooming? Agreed though, good analogy. Very Beardsley-esque performance. MOM for me.

Yossi can cut inside if we have someone who keeps the width and is able to carry on the other flank. Edited August 29, 2007 by Knox_Harrington

Guest Anders Honoré Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 (edited) tbf, I was positively surprised at how well he stayed on the flank when he needed to. edit: anyone knows if he has experience of playing on the left? Edited August 29, 2007 by Anders Honoré

You stand Riise up and you've done him. Yossi will really show something though when he plays with Torres, Gerrard and Kewell. That could really be something.
Rich Gobey Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 MOTM for me, by some way. Could have had 6 goal assists.
koppper Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I am really looking forward to him playing with Torres - they should fit in very well together.

_00_deathscar Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 is there any reason benayoun shouldn't play on the left? Yes - if Riise's playing behind him. We'll be more exposed than an exploding star...
Hassony Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I'd love to see him play behind Torres or Crouch. Why crouch? Kuyts movement is much better than crouch
oran Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 edit: anyone knows if he has experience of playing on the left?yep, plenty.
abc Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Why crouch? Kuyts movement is much better than crouch Out of Crouch and Kuyt, as the center forward it's Crouchy for me every time. I was thinking more in terms of how the team would benefit from Yossi's movement playing off Crouch, more so than Crouchy and Benayoun linking up to score goals. If that makes any sense at all.
kop205 Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Yes - if Riise's playing behind him. We'll be more exposed than an exploding star... Poor old Riise. Every thread ends up with someone saying how s*** he is. Having said that, I'm far from his biggest fan and he was shocking at times last night. Back on Yossi, my old man reckons the program has his career stats as about 96 goals in 320 games or something like that? Not got it to hand, but didn't think his goals record was anything like that impressive? If so, that potentially gives him a massive edge over Pennant (who I do think has played well this season).
Guest RedIsMyColour Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I don't see no reason why we cant play Yossi on the left and Pennant on the right. There are going to be plenty of games so I am sure they will both get there fair share. Yossi is a classy player though, not as frustrating as Garcia either,
owenthomas Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 love it when he gets more central and the forward makes the for him to dink the little sly ball through.. did it pre-season and again last night for Kuyt.. imagine how well that could work with Torres & Gerrard running off him..
Mr S Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 He looked great last night. Would love to see Him, Pennant and Babel playing behind Torres on Saturday. What impressed me most was his through balls, be perfect for Torres to run onto.
