There was almost nothing wrong with Taylor's leap - there were about 10 sq inches of goal Gerrard could have put it into, and he did - whether he intended it to go exactly there is another issue...but the way it looped and curled...

Unbelievable free kick.

He had to get it so hight before it dropped into the top corner. Brilliant.

And Taylor somehow got a hand to it! Fair play to him.

SG was brilliant today. Really immense.

Brilliant free-kick, but definately not the best iv seen. Probably one of the best iv seen Liverpool score in the last few seasons mind. Hopefully he can do it a bit more often, i'd love us to have a player who can regularly score free-kicks.

The bigger the occasion the more likely Stevie is to do something special, which is what makes him a truly great player.

That game was massive in terms of whether we can challenge this season, and when he stepped up to take that free-kick I knew he was going to score, I f*cking knew it.

He's a legend, one of the all-time greats of this club.

That's how a skipper should take charge and win a game on his own. he won the kick and then he nailed it.

Credit to Taylor today though. He nearly pulled off the save of the season on the first day.

I still reckon Gazza for Spurs in the cup semi against Arsenal at Wembley is the best Ive seen.

Hot with immense pace, perfect trajectory right into the postage stamp in the top corner, beating arguably one of the best couple of keepers in the world in the process.

Havent seen Stevies yet; will look forward to it!!

When you look at great goals though, context should be a big consideration.

I used to watch one of the greatest sportsmen of all time Michael Jordan, and the more important the game or the shot you knew he'd make it. Gerrard is the same.

That was a huge moment, and if we go on to do something in the league this season I'll certainly look back at that as being a definer, even this early on day one.

I know it's day one, but to come back and get three points after conceeding a late goal shows a lot of promise and self belief.

Whats so good about the freekick, Just like any other we see week in week out...

It's the effect and boost of confidence and self belief The goal brought I am more thrilled about....

How many goals does Gerrard have for us now?

Competitive goals.
