Ronnie Whelan Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Have we not already beaten Chelsea 2-0 in Anfield this season?
psl Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Fair enough mate, that's the Anny Road I know... I'm feeling down today and am probably being too negative. As that starts to wear off, I'll start to feel more positive. Always happens. I think you'll see that from a lot of fans on here. I'm sure the Chelsea fans are still worried and, as has been pointing out, Chelsea will be worried they didn't score a couple more.
Cobs Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I got in at 03.00 after driving back and m now on my way to work, f***ed.............that's some wireless connection you must have...
Rico Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Ooooh, campioneThe one and onlyWe're Liverpool They say our days are numbered, we're not famous any moreBut scousers rule the country like we've always done before (yeah, the last line is particularly crap, but I'll sing it I suppose) We haven't won at Stamford Bridge in recent years, so coming away with a win was always a tall order. A draw would have been great, but at least we're not more than 1-0 down. Without some great stuff from Reina, we could easily be significantly worse off. We beat them 2-0 at Anfield in the Premiership in January, there's no reason that we can't do it again. COME ON!
alias75 Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 In a weird way it'll do us good, Chelsea do have a slight advantage as we didnt get the way goal and that may put a little bit more pressure on them, they are expected to get through now. But as we know Anfield on European nights is unique and if we start well and get the first goal they could buckle. I make Chelsea slight favourites but this tie is far from over.
Leo No.8 Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 We were f*cking shocking in the first half last night, there's just no gettting away from it. Rafa said as much himself, we couldn't stop giving the ball away. BUT, we got away with it and gained a foot-hold second half, in which we were the better side. My over-riding thoughts from last night were that come 10pm next Tuesday, Chelsea would live to regret not having scored more than one in the first half of the first leg when we played like rabbits in the headlights, because they really should have. Lampard, Drogba should have scored and Cole was clear at one stage if Drogba could have played him in with an easy pass. We defended and passed the ball atrociously. Yes we were all over the place, at Stamford Bridge which is a ground which has always seemed to bring the worst out of us. But come next Tuesday, those players who looked like they didn't belong in a Champions League semi final for 45 minutes will become indomitable red monsters, inspired by the roaring Kop. That first half was their chance to put us away, and that is the last one they'll get to be comfortable. Anfield will be a sight to behold, they'll feel our power again and be blown away by it. I really do believe that they've missed their chance.

Swagger Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Well said, Anny. Its posts like your that lift my spirits and make me proud to be a Liverpool fan. It will not be easy, they are currently favourites, but it CAN be done. The players have to come out fighting, and if we get the first goal, the best fans in the world will push them on to the second. My brother texted me before the match last night that he reckons that we will lose at Stamford Bridge, but win the tie. Fingers crossed.

Puskas Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I really do believe that they've missed their chance. We rode our luck a bit in the first half, we were lucky to be only one down at half time - lucky and very grateful to Reina. Personally I thought we missed Momo, they were getting far too much time on the ball. Second half was much closer. Chelsea have a must-win game against Bolton at the weekend, we can send the youth team to Portsmouth. We are still very much in this.
Paul B Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 In a weird way it'll do us good, That's my take as well. Do you know what would have been a dodgy result? 2-0 to us! I'm not joking either. How would we play at Anfield if that was the case? At least we know now we have to go out and win the thing and I know we can do it.

Swagger Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Do you know what would have been a dodgy result? 2-0 to us! I could have lived with that.
Paul B Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 ffs Yeah? Remember Arsenal in 89 when we "only" didn't have to lose by 2-0? How did we approach the game that night?
Nerik Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 We come out fighting at Anfield and it will be game on. Conceding a goal before we score could practically end it but we must remember the spirit of St. Ettienne, of Istanbul, the courage against the Chavs 2yrs ago. It is far from over. We score a goal and the place will be rocking. Let's just get Chelsea under pressure and see how they cope.
Des Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 That's my take as well. Do you know what would have been a dodgy result? 2-0 to us! I'm not joking either.
Cobs Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Yeah? Remember Arsenal in 89 when we "only" didn't have to lose by 2-0? How did we approach the game that night?jeez, you were serious? i do remember it your one example in 18years has shocked me to the core, i pray we never win an away leg again
Guest Kazza Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Well said Anny Road. All this doom and gloom does my head in. And the bleeding newspapers do too. Bloody mancs win 3-2 and have to go to Milan and everybody says they'll do it. we are losing 0-1 and chelski have to face the Kop but our own supporters have us knocked out already.
Andy Mac Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Last night ( especially in the first half) I was dreading what the result was going to be. They were all over us. I don't cares what anyone says, I'm confident were going to get through this tie. If you'd have been offered a 1-0 deficit before the game, you'd have taken it, wouldn't you? I know I would. I genuinely believe that some people (on here and in general) listen to the crap that is spouted by the media and take it as gospel. Chelsea are in a precarious position, too, you know. Mourinho will realise that if we get a quick goal next week and with the backing of the crowd, his players could freeze. This is what football is all about. The tension, the expectancy, tha passion, the fervour. And as a fan (especially a Liverpool fan) the knowledge that your encouragement and passion, in the form of song and flags and sheer volume can have a positive effect on your team and demoralising effect on the other team. Let's ram the words of Moanrinho and those puny chequered flags that Chelsea gave their fans right up their jacksies !!! Allez les Rouges!!!!
Cunny Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I can understand people being down about the result cos it was the worst possible result for us - a defeat without an away goal.Yes Anfield will be a sight and a sound to behold next week but we have no margin for error. Chasing games does not suit us and playing on the counter attack will suit Chelsea down to the ground - that's my worry. The tie is far from over but it's certainly advantage Chelsea after the first leg.
downunder Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Anny, I usually agree with you and today is no different. I don't usually read the match threads but did today, I noticed most the posters are not regulars and most are doom and gloom merchants, is it always like that?
