'Worst injury a player could have' according to Robbie Earle and Townsend :o

Its one of them, but before we all get panicked...if he'd ruptured his cruciate ligament they'd be saying the same thing, or if it was a bad knee injury etc

I just hope he's alright, he's really playing himself into the team.

I had a total achilles rupture this time last year. It made a big 'pop' and everyone on the pitch looked at me, then I fell over and almost vomited. Absolutely horrendous it was ...hopefully he's alright. YNWA Fabio

So apart from having a very weird username, how is it now and how long did it take to heal?

I've been running on it for 4 months or so although I could've started back sooner. It feels ok...the important thing is to build up the calf as strong as possible. The difference is that he'll have the best of care and rehab and nothing else to do but get himself fit and strong. I have a job and I'm a lazy fukcer.

A ruptured Achilles kept Kewell out of the game for a long time in his younger years at Leeds, and his game was never quite what it was as a kid. It looks nothing when it happens but if that's what it is, then it can be one of the worst injuries you can get.

Hope its something less serious, the poor lad gets injured every time he gets going.

Did you just see the slow motion replay? You can actually see it snap.... :(

The single stupidest comment ever.

Let's be optimistic. I remember when Larsson broke his leg people said his career was over. It's really sad for Aurelio because he has played so well in this game and in the Arsenal game.

Aurelio is shaping up to be one of the best players who never quite made it with us. He seemed to be crying when he went off and you have to wonder whether that was down to pain or down to sheer frustration at yet another injury. This one wasn't even caused by an opposition player goijng in too hard or a bad foul. We can only hope that it's not too serious but at the moment it looks like Fabio seems to be playing under some kind of curse. If he could only outn together a run of twenty to thrity games I think we'd see his true worth but he seems fated never to be fit for that long.

absolutely gutted for him. makes another comeback, playing really well and looking like nailing down a starting XI place and then that happens. bloody horrible bad luck, get well soon fabio lad.

Any updates on his injury?

I was gutted seeing him get injured, he seemed to be really improving, just hope it's not too serious and he comes back soon as.

It's weird the way some players are just susceptible to injuries, Kirkland and Aurelio in particular.

If a player damages his knee then has persistant trouble with it, I can understand that. But with those two it just seems to be they get damaged more easily, it could be any part of their body or any injury. Makes me wonder if there is a medical reason for it, some sort of fragility in the muscles and bones or something, I don't know.

Aurelio has been plagued with injuries his whole career, all different ones as well; this is the third time he's been out this season with a different injury and he didn't reach 100 games with Valencia in 6 years there.

You have to feel desperately sorry for him because it must be so painful and frustrating.

The poor, poor lad. I've seen people who's feet have been dangling down in a way they were never meant to go after an achilles has snapped. It's horrible to see and I sincerely hope he makes a full and quick recovery. I really do hope it's not career threatening as I read above.

Stupid question but could it be that he tore his calf muscle? He seemed to be holding his leg a lot higher than his achilles.

I presume it was ITV who came up with the Achilles injury first was it?
